“Hayden, I’m sorry- there’s no way you’re not doing it!” Ren says with a threatening tone in her voice. “I just... I need that bottle. And I’m the type of person to go to extensive measures to get what I need. You know?”

“Alcohol?” I ask, furrowing my brows together. “Why go through all of this, just for a shitty bottle? How is it that big of a deal to you? You sound like a child!”

I can tell by the look on her face that she is not happy. She looks like she could detonate at any moment.

“I’m sorry,“ she says, condescending. She throws her cardigan down onto her bed. “Are you not an addict?! What kind of stupid fucking question is that?!”

I am so thankful Jena came up with a plan to frame her for my actions before she can try to sell me out. If I didn’t have to keep my cool for the sake of my plan? I’d have fought her for the way she’s talking to me by now.

I guess that’s the Creekside in me.

Instead, I take a deep breath and prepare myself to release the bait.

Let’s just hope she catches it.

Before I can say anything, Ren storms over to where I sit on my bed.

“I’m sure upper management wouldn’t take well to finding out that Hayden Gold is fucking a nurse in their rehab center...” She sneers, glaring at me with flames in her eyes. “I didn’t want to take it there, Hayden. I really didn’t. But it’s either this, or that.”

I can’t help but narrow my eyes at her, but Jena is quick to force a laugh from my lips.

“What the hell are you laughing at?!” she snaps. “I’m serious!”

I reposition myself on my bed to be level with her, no longer allowing her to stand over me in an attempt to intimidate. Jena has forced her way through the walls of my mind.

“I’ll do you one better, hun,” I say, confidence dripping from my words.

So, here it goes- the bait. If she takes this, I’ll undoubtedly have the upper hand.

They’ll probably transfer her right over to solitary! Sneaking out to the roof at night? Like she said, upper management would consider that a serious offense!

I let a smile spread across my lips as the question slides out of my mouth.

“How would you like to take one of my breaks instead? With Ryan?”
