CHAPTER 45

Boys and Coke

REN

I WAS SURE that time that he will kill me.

The grip was unmoving and he knows where to press.

But I can see it in his eyes—he had never done this before. There was the fresh spark of enthusiasm and thrill that lacks the sharp experience in his stare because he was attentive to his surroundings as if he will get caught anytime.

He would never be a different case from the man I kicked.

And so I gave him the hardest kick I could despite the pressure of losing air. I was struggling. He didn't even flinch because I only kicked his thigh instead.

His eyes glinted at the sight of my helplessness.

He was wearing a silver earring on his left ear and he just looks as young as me.

It never fails.

I immediately ran, as blind as I could because of the tension that my head is now suddenly feeling. I am getting dizzy because of the strangling. I was sure that I am going to pass out anytime when I shed a tear.

I heard him cursing at me and he was coming after me. He is running pretty fast and I am sure he could catch me anytime now if my body won't cooperate.

I am getting my chances. I held my knife as tight as possible as I ran with the last of my energy to get to that post. I saw a glimmer of hope when I saw a house across the two-lane street ahead of me.

"You bitch! I'm going to kill you!" he growled as he got off from the last of the line of trees and I have never been so sure to run for my life when suddenly, things went out crazy like I was dragged in the middle of a Fast and Furious movie as police cars suddenly sped round the corner of the street not afar and were speeding down my way.

My attacker suddenly stopped and cursed at me even more but I didn't stop running however, now toward the speeding police cars to avoid the point of his gun that he suddenly fished off his back.

He fired at me.

I muffled a sharp hiss as the bullet whiffed past the side of my left arm.

He fired at me and I was shot.

The heat of the wound made me drop the knife from my hand.

It was barely there but I was shot.

He means to kill me.

I glanced at him as I ran until the cars stopped and a set of arms immediately pulled me to him and we toppled down the crusty road. Flashes of light and orders stormed around us and I caught a sight of the cops chasing after my attacker. They fired shots at him and I didn't know what happened next as I felt a hand brushing my face.
