The sky is a mix of a cotton candy pink and light yellow. Alongside of me is this seemingly endless body of water that I don't know the name of. We've been driving for so long that there is absolutely no sign of society anymore. Just an abundant grassy landscape and grand mountains to mark our location. The only sound that follows us is the light humming of the car, only growing louder when Harry accelerates speed. The wind, no everything, is just. . . calm.
I look down and smile warmly - I've been doing that so much lately - at our intertwined fingers, resting on his lap. Harry looks as if he belongs here. Somewhere along the way he unbuttoned his white button up shirt due to the heat in the small vehicle with no A/C. His pants are rolled up slightly at the bottoms, exposing his hairy legs. His hair has grown enough for him to place it in a small bun with only one stubborn strand at the front of his hairline that just won't stay put. He looks and is so much different from the man I first met all those months ago. Although who he is as a person has certainly changed dramatically that's not the only prominent change. I can see it clearly at my angle in the car. On his upper right chest plate are the Japanese characters エデンの園. It literally translates to the Garden of Eden. It's my new favorite of his, because he calls it his link to me. It's how he wants to remember me if anything bad we're to happen. . . I shutter at the gruesome flashes that pop up in my head at the thought and subconsciously lightly touch the small tattoo behind my right ear. It's small and I don't think that I'll get another one, but I'm content with it's simplicity. Tracing the tiny smiley face sitting right behind my ear I'm reminded of the best night of my life. He's a work of art with his one hand gripping tightly onto the steering wheel, focusing intently on the road.
At the restaurant we ran into a boy and a girl. Their names are Samuel and Kolbi, respectively. Samuel is a native to the land whilst Kolbi is actually from Britain, like Harry, though her accent is long gone now. She moved here when she was only sixteen years old! She was tired of living life in a 'fix' is how she described her situation back home. She wanted adventure and romance and excitement and all of the above, and she just wasn't receiving that in her old predicament; so she moved.
I respect her a lot for her strength. I could never move so far away from home at such a young age.
They are such an odd-looking couple. . . as I'm sure Harry and I are to them: me, a mid-sized, wide-eyed boy alongside an extremely tall, well developed one. Samuel has dirty blonde hair as does Kolbi. However, Samuel's eyes are as blue as my own and Kolbi's are a muddy brown.
They're both extremely kind people, so we decided to invite them to go sightseeing, and they agreed though I'm sure they've already been all over the country. As part of the deal, they asked that we invite their friend Noah, a raven-haired boy, who looks a lot younger than us. He's quiet though equally kind and after a couple of miles of being in a car with him I've realized there's not much more to that.
We come to a stop in the midst of a long, wide field of nothing but grass and a few barrels of what looks like hay.
"The grass here is soft enough to run through barefoot," Samuel exclaims from behind me, unbuckling his seat belt.
"We do it all the time," Noah quietly adds from behind me and I'm caught off guard by his soft voice.
The bunch of them are quite a sight to behold. They all have this very wild look that's indescribable to me. From their wildly unkept, yet naturally perfect hair to their clothing styles. Like Harry, Samuel has his shirt unbuttoned; however, Samuel's is more of a v-neck type of shirt and therefore stops halfway down, exposing his wild chest hair. He couldn't unbutton fully if he wanted to. Kolbi looks like Mother Earth. What with her pure white short, loose fitting dress and cream colored sandals to match! The crown of white lilies she's made for both me and her only add to her nature-based aura. But Noah.
