Chapter 60

{Chris's POV, Halloween} 

The next morning Luna and I arrived home from the hospital with Elizabeth, I unbuckled Elizabeth from her car seat and held her I gently placed her in her rocker I took off my leather jacket and left the living room I hung up my jacket. I walked back into the living room I picked Elizabeth up and held her I joined Luna on the couch she grabbed the remote off the coffee table and turned on the table. 

"Baby how are you feeling?" 

"I feel sore but I'll be fine." 

"Can I get you anything?" I asked. 

"I'll be fine." Luna said. 

Luna and I were watching Cartoon Network we heard someone coming down the stairs Celaena, Kevin, and Mandy came into the living room and sat down. 

"Happy Birthday mom." 

"Thank you, sweetie." 

Elizabeth woke up crying I gently laid her in Luna's arms I got up off the couch and left the living room I walked into the kitchen and made Elizabeth a bottle I turned around and saw Luna enter the kitchen I handed her the bottle. 

"What's the matter my love?" Luna asked softly. 

"I have a feeling that Celaena let Kevin stay the night without asking for permission." I whispered. 

"Would you like me to ask her?" 

"No thank you baby I'll ask her while you rest and feed Elizabeth." 

I kissed Luna and left the kitchen I walked down the hall to my office I opened the door and walked into the room I sat down at my desk and used my computer to buy a birthday gift for Luna; I looked up and saw Celaena come into the room and closed the door. 

"Mom said that you wanted to talk to me." 

"Did Kevin stay the night?" 

"Yes, but not for the reason that you're thinking I asked Kevin to stay the night because I didn't want to be home all alone because Mandy was going to spend time with her mother last night and after she left, I felt lonely. So, I called Kevin and aunt Kelly answered the phone I explained to her why I was home alone and I felt lonely aunt Kelly said that Kevin could spend the night with me until you and mom came home. You don't trust me, do you?" Celaena asked defensively. 

"Sweetheart, I never said I didn't trust you I wish you would have called me or your mother to ask for our permission if Kevin could stay the night." I explained. 

"I didn't want to bother you and mom because I didn't know if you guys were resting and I didn't know if Elizabeth was sleeping in mom's hospital room or if she was in the nursery with rest of the babies." 

"I didn't mean to make it sound like I don't trust you it's just that I can't help but be protective of my little girl." 

Celaena walked over to my desk I got up from my desk she gave me a hug I hugged her back Celaena sat down at my desk. 

"Dad can I pick out a birthday gift for mom and pick something out for Elizabeth?" She asked. 

"I don't mind I just bought your mother a birthday gift and I am trying to find something to get Elizabeth as a welcome home present." I replied. 

"You could get Elizabeth plush dolls of Jack and Sally from the Nightmare Before Christmas." 

After Celaena was finished buying her gifts for Luna and Elizabeth I bought Elizabeth plush dolls of Jack and Sally when I was finished putting the order in, I logged out of the website and shut down the computer we left my office. 

"Dad, I already told my aunts and uncles that I am a big sister now and I also told grandmom and granddad because they called while you and mom were at the hospital yesterday." 

"Why didn't they just come up to the hospital like they did when you were born?" 

"I guess everyone wanted to give you and mom chance to relax and bond with Elizabeth I don't really know why I didn't ask." Celaena said. 

Celaena and I walked into the living room I didn't see Luna or Elizabeth; I left the living room and walked upstairs I walked down the hall and walked into Elizabeth's room and saw Luna changing Elizabeth. 

"Would you like a hand?" 

"No thank you babe I'm fine. Did you talk to Celaena?" 

"Yeah, I talked to Celaena she told me that she called Angelo and Kelly to see if Kevin could stay the night because Mandy was going out with her mother and Celaena didn't want to be alone in the house so she called Kelly and asked if Kevin could stay the night and explained why." I said. 

"She still should have called and asked for our permission." Luna stated throwing away Elizabeth's diaper. 

"Celaena wasn't sure if we were resting or if Elizabeth was asleep in the hospital room or if she was in the nursery." 

"I understand why she didn't call us." 

Luna picked Elizabeth up off her changing table and laid her in my arms I walked over to the rocking chair and sat down I gently rocked her and softly sang to her. Later on, that night after Luna and I put Elizabeth to bed we left her room and walked up the hall to our room Luna and I walked into our room and got ready for bed we climbed into bed, I reached over and turned off the lamp. I slid up behind Luna and draped my arm across her I kissed her shoulder and fell asleep.
