Olivia slowly opened her eyes. Ang una niyang nakita ay ang nakangiting mukha ni Max. She roamed her eyes across the room. Nakita niya sa may paanan ng hospital bed ang kanyang tiyahin. She's smiling while wiping away tears.
She feels different. Yung parang ilang oras kang nakatulog pero pagod na pagod ka pa rin. She wondered why she's in a hospital room. Then she remembered the operation. She remembered waking up in the ICU with the sounds of machines and hospital equiment and cables attached to her body. Hindi niya nalaala kung paano siya nakatulog. Ang alam niya ay nasa isang regular hospital room na siya ngayon.
Muli niyang ibinalik ang mga mata kay Max. He's opening his mouth and was saying something but she can't hear anything.
Sasabihin niya sana na wala siyang marinig pero walang boses na lumalabas sa bibig niya. She cleared her throat. Her mouth is very dry.
"T-tubig. Gusto ko ng tubig," she said in a very faint voice.
Mabilis na kumilos si Kelly at kinuha ang bote ng mineral water. Binuksan niya ito at binigay kay Max.
"Here. Dahan-dahan," ang sabi ni Max at inilapit sa kanyang bibig ang bote ng tubig.
Dahan-dahang ininom ni Olivia ang tubig. She has never been this thirsty in her life.
"Kumusta ang pakiramdam mo?" Tanong ni Max matapos niyang uminom ng tubig.
Saka lang namalayan ni Olivia na naririnig na niya ang asawa. She felt relieved.
"I feel so tired," mahina pa rin niyang sagot.
"Inaantok ka ba?"
"Hindi. Pagod na pagod lang."
Nag-aalalang lumapit si Kelly sa pamangkin.
"We already told the nurses na gising ka na. The doctor will be here any minute."
Hindi sumagot si Olivia. She immediately looked at Max's face. Ngumiti naman ang huli. Sapat na yun para mawala ang nararamdamang kaba ni Olivia.
She looked down and noticed the IV line from her wrist to a metal pole. She also noticed the machines and equipment inside the room. Pero hindi iyon kasing-dami ng nakita niya sa ICU.
Napansin naman ni Kelly ang ginagawa ni Olivia kaya't kaagad itong nagpaliwanag.
"You were in the operating room for eight hours. Pagkatapos ng operasyon, inilipat ka nila sa ICU. You stayed there for 24 hours. When you were stable enough ay inilipat ka na nila dito sa regular room."
"You still have bandages wrapped around your head. You have wires attached to your chest through this round stickers and the IV line on your wrist. But aside from that, you still look beautiful," nakangiting sabi ni Max.
Napangiti na rin si Olivia. Maya-maya ay dumating na nga ang doktor.
"How's our patient?" Ang tanong nito at lumapit kay Olivia.
"She said she's tired, doc." Sabi ni Max.
The doctor checked Olivia's vitals and smiled.
"That's totally normal after a major operation," ang sabi nito. "Well, the operation was successful. We will just have to monitor you for a few days. We will do some more tests and then we'll see if you can go home. Her vital signs are normal naman."
"Thank god!" Kelly exclaimed.
"Did you hear that, babe? The operation was successful. You're cancer-free." Naiiyak na sabi ni Max sa asawa.
