Del Viñedo Tower I. 9:17am.

"NO!"

Humampas ang kamay ni Señora Amelia sa mahabang mesa habang gigil na pinandidilatan si Xander. Mula nang ibalita kasi ng CEO ang balak nitong pagpasok sa asawa sa Del Viñedo Group ay nanggalaiti na ito sa kakokontra.

"What do you think you're doing? You can't just bring in whoever you like to this company! This is not child's play!"

"Cathy is part of my family. This is our business, therefore, I can put her wherever I want," giit din at banta ng lider sa nagrereklamong board member.

"... I can put her in your position and replace you if I want to. I don't even have to tell you anything, yet I'm doing it for formalities' sake."

"But, Chief..." sabat ni Mr. Licauco na namumuno rin sa dibisyon ng food manufacturing. "Vice President of Operations? Isn't that too big of a task for someone who just started in a managerial position?"

"Cathy has years of experience. She was already part of an executive team before she led as a director. She is capable of doing what we need her to do," tugon agad ni Xander.

Nagsabay-sabay naman ang tanguan at ilingan sa silid. May mga kumbinsido sa rasong inilatag ng pinuno ngunit may mga iba paring hindi makapagdesisyon o di kaya'y tutol sa paglalagay ng baguhan sa posisyon. Hindi kasi biro ang trabahong ito. Kung sino man ang maitatalaga ay siyang magiging tagapangasiwa ng lahat ng operasyon ng bawat kumpanya sa ilalim ng Del Viñedo Group. Kailanga'y isang eksperto sa time management at processing ang mamumuno o labis na magkaka-aberiya ang pagdaloy ng mga utos mula sa itaas patungo sa ibaba.

"What's wrong with Alice? She can do the same thing. Even more than what Cathy can do, yet you don't want to consider?" Saad parin ng taas-kilay na si Señora Amelia.

"How many times do I have to tell you? It'll be a conflict of interest. She's part of a different corporate group with similar companies under it. We don't know where her loyalties lie if the conglomerate dissolves," tugon naman ni Xander na sinasabayan ang taas ng boses ng lolang hilaw.

"... The merger does not mean we conjoin authorities! It's a partnership, not a take-over. We have to set boundaries."

"The Chief has a point," sang-ayon ni Mr. Rivera na pangunahing tagapamahala ngayon sa plantation at organic farm sa Santa Catalina. "We're the Del Viñedo Group, not the Saint Laurent Group. We should keep a clear division regardless of the alliance."

"... Ms. Cathy is a safe choice. She's a member of the Del Viñedo family. She will only have one interest in mind and that's our growth."

"Correction, she's the best choice," pagtatama ni Xander sa pahayag ng empleyado.

"Let's be objective, Chief," sabi naman ni Mrs. Montefalco na isa rin sa mga panauhing ehekutibo ng grupo. "We'll decide on that once we see her work ethic and her skills."

"Fine, fair enough," imik ng lider sabay baba sa resume ng misis na taban-taban. "Then, all in favor of appointing Cathy del Viñedo as the new Vice President of Operations."

Isa-isang nagtaasan ang mga kamay ng mga miyembrong pabor sa pagkakatalaga ni Cathy sa posisyon.

"... And all opposed?"

Nagsitaasan din matapos ang mga kamay ng hindi sang-ayon sa kaganapan. Unang-una na roon ang nakaangat na braso ni Señora Amelia na matalim pa sa sibat ang pagkakapokus sa kaharap na CEO.
