The ocean is brighter than usual- the radiant blue gives you an overflowing calm feeling as you look out onto it's surface. A fish swims to the surface to poke it's small head out, as if to say hello, before plunging back into the endless abyss. Your mind wanders as the ocean's waves crash onto the beach, wetting your feet, but you're pulled back in by a boat horn that surrounds you. You look onto the water and see a speedboat racing toward the shore. It looks as if it's unable to stop. But just before it hits the point of no return, the boater takes a sharp turn and heads back out to sea, leaving his wake behind.
The sea seems to call you, it pulls on your heart like a beautiful storm. It's waves crash together and echoes in the wind, mixing with the seagull squawks. You're at peace with the waves.
It's hard imagining anywhere else that calms you in the way the ocean can. It's hard to think anything else could be as peaceful as watching the water communicate with everything around it in its own special way.
I found peace in the waves, in the things under the surface. I found passion in marine life, the corals and mammals and ecosystem. I found joy studying how it works together.
I may not know a lot, but I definitely know that I cannot wait to get back out into the water and see the beautiful creation that is under the surface of water. I cannot wait to see magnificent creatures and figure out how it all works. God I can't wait to make my living off of it.
I can't wait.
