Jax's eyes darted back and forth between us. From our swollen lips to our flushed cheeks, both of us looked breathless.
"Please don't tell me you guys were having clothed sex just now." Jax said, eyes widening.
Killian and I shared a glance.
Almost.
At our silence, Jax smirked before speaking again.
"Anyway, Cleo is missing, we can't find her anywhere.""She's probably outside." Killian grumbled, shifting uncomfortably.
"I looked outside already and still can't find her! Can you guys just please get off your horny asses and come help?" Jax asked with an exasperated tone.
I reluctantly got on my feet. "Where did you last see her?"
"In my room, sleeping on the bed."
"Alright, go double check in there and I'll go through the guest rooms."
Jax smiled in relief before turning back to his brother and nodding at his groin.
"You might wanna take care of that while Eris is out of the room."
Killian scowled, at him. "Get out!"
Jax laughed, turning away with a little wave before exiting the room. When he was gone, I turned back to Killian whose eyes were already on me.
"I should probably go look for your cat." I said.
He sighed, getting to his feet.
"We're finishing this later."
I have no problem with that.
I turned around and exited the room, entering the one next door. I walked into the bathroom and the closet before checking under the bed, not seeing the familiar Calico anywhere. I moved down the hall, checking each room as I went, scanning every corner before leaving.
I didn't even realize when I reached the seventh room where Mr. Lane and his wife were staying in, and swung the door open without a second thought. I only gasped in surprise when I was met by Mr. Lane's tensing figure laying on the bed. He scowled when he noticed my presence.
"Get out!" He snapped.
"Sorry, I didn't realize this was your room!" I apologized hastily.
I didn't even know he was back from the grocery store.
Mr. Lane jumped off the bed approached me before I could react, gripping the wrist from my bad hand and yanking me forward, causing me to wince.
"Sorry doesn't cut it! Never come near me again, you understand?" He yelled.
His spit splattered on my nose and the smell of alchohol reeked in his breath.
"I understand." I said, unsuccessfully attempting to pull away.
"You should have never came here. Intruding in a family reunion like this. You're nothing more then a stranger!"
His words began to anger me and I grew defensive.
"Sir, I don't know what I've done to you but let go of me right now. I don't care if you don't know me. I know Killian. I know Jax. I'm here for them, not you."
Crack!
I heard the sound before I felt the pain. Mr. Lane's large palm crashing onto my cheek with a force that sent my head flinging to the side. Almost instantly, a burning sensation like boiling water erupted on my face, and I cried out from the pain.
