When we arrived at Cracker Barrel, we were happy to see that the restaurant wasn't full, meaning we didn't have a wait. A waiter promptly led us to a table near the back, handing us menus as we sat.
Killian took the seat beside me and Gemma took the one in front of me, leaving Jax to sit besides her. I picked up my menu, scanning it thoughtfully even though I already knew what I was going to get.
After a few minutes, a different waiter from before arrived to see what we would like to drink.
My jaw dropped in surprise when I saw that it was Gemma's boyfriend, Blake.
When he saw her he sneered before voicing out a greeting. "Hi babe."
Gemma frowns. "Since when do you work at Cracker Barrel? You're not stalking me again are you?"
"Of course not baby, I'm just trying to earn some more money so I can afford a Lambo."
"Well I'd like to ask for another waiter." She declares.
A glare poisons Blake's features. "Stop being a bitch. I don't know why I put up with you sometimes.
"Oh, I don't know, maybe because I'm keeping your mother alive?" Gemma snaps, surprising me.
I had never seen her look even slightly bothered by his insulting words before. I wondered why today was different.
Before he could counter her statement, Killian interrupted.
"I would like a Mountain Dew."
"Me too." Jax and I chimed in simultaneously.
"And I'll take a water." Gemma murmurs.
Blake scowls at us but writes down our orders on a little notepad before speaking.
"Would that be all?"
"No. I want pancakes." Killian says.
"Yeah, I'll take an order of pancakes and some biscuits, thanks." Jax chimes in.
"Same here." Gemma and I agreed.
"Fat whore." Blake growls as he writes our meals down.
His words were directed at his girlfriend but I felt Killian tense up beside me, readying himself to defend me if he even sent one negative word my way.
Gemma grabs a sugar packet from the table and throws it him.
"Can you leave now? I can only look at your obnoxious face for so long."
Jax stifles a laugh as Blake scowls again, opening his mouth the argue. Before he could even make out a word, Killian interrupts him.
"Go get our food before I call your manager over here to fire you."
That shut him up instantly. To my surprise, without another word, Blake turns around and stalks away.
He must really want that Lambo. Or he must remember when Killian almost broke his face the last time they had an encounter.
"Sorry about that guys, he can be a real bitch ass hoe sometimes." Gemma says.
I raised a brow at her profanity and she quickly apologizes.
"Sorry, sorry. He just gets on my fucking nerves."
Jax tilted his head in confusion. "So fill me in. You guys know each other?"
"Yeah that's my boyfriend."
I watch in amusement as Jax's confused expression deepens. "I'm no couples therapist but I think you two could use some counseling."
