~Chapter 30~

"He willingly sealed himself away again." Aia whispered softly seeing Inuyasha passed out next to Hana who slept peacefully. Eiko had wrapped her troat with moist herbs to help ease the pain.

"It worries me, what kind of deal did Inuyasha make with his demon." Sesshomaru muttered.

"I'm not sure but he didn't hurt me, so maybe he's doing it for Hana?" Kaida suggested.

"That is possible, he's possessive of her." Sesshomaru spoke as he looked over at Inuyasha.

"I may have misheard, but, didn't he call her Kichōna?" Shippō asked.

"He did." Sesshomaru confirmed.

"That's either good or really bad." Kaito spoke up.

"We can only ask Inuyasha later, for now, let us rest." Eiko said. The others soon agreed, even Sesshomaru, due to the battle being exhausting. They all settled in, and soon fell asleep in the dead of night. However, one did not sleep peacefully. Inuyasha's breath was shaky, his body quivering as his ears pinned down. A soft whimper left his lips, then he shot up taking a sharp breath in as he grabbed as his chest.

'Calm, Inuyasha. It's over.' His beast spoke making Inuyasha slowly relax. He let out a shaky breath as a stray tear fell. Inuyasha brought up a hand to wipe it away.

'Inuyasha, you know that wasn't Kagome. She's gone, accept it.' Inuyasha choked back a whimper.

'You're foolishness almost costed Hana's life, you're lucky I pushed past you in time.' His beast scolded making Inuyasha's snap wide open as he quickly looked around, finally, his gaze fell on Hana. Tears welled in his eyes, she looked so weak, so frail.

'She is safe, Inuyasha.' His beast spoke softly. Inuyasha let out a shaky breath before carefully reaching over moving a stray hair out of her face. Then, he noticed something.

'Something's wrong.'

'Fear, nervousness, guilt. A nightmare possibly.' His beast explained the feeling Inuyasha was getting from Hana. Inuyasha's ears fell before he gently held Hana's cheek in his hand.

"Hana." He spoke softly but got no response.

"Hana." He spoke a tad louder. Hana stirred a little, then she opened her eyes, tears fell when she did making Inuyasha almost whimper but he refrained as he wiped them away.

"Shh, it's ok Hana." He soothed making her look over. She tried to speak, but her voice croaked before she reached up to her throat, Inuyasha took her hand before she could touch it though.

"Hey hey, easy, don't push yourself." He spoke softly before scooting closer to her. She mouthed something confusing Inuyasha for a moment.

'She's apologizing. I wonder what Naraku said to her.' Inuyasha let out a gentle breath.

"Hana, don't, nothing that happened is your fault." He spoke before he felt his chest coil again.

"I'm sorry I didn't get there sooner." He whispered. Hana frowned before she gently rubbed her thumb on his hand. Inuyasha's gaze softened before he carefully laid next to Hana. She turned over and held onto him making him hold her close.

"Shh, it's ok. You're safe now, I will never leave your side like that again if I can help it." He whispered soothingly. Hana nodded before relaxing and slowly drifting off to sleep again. Inuyasha stayed up for a while longer making sure she stayed asleep before relaxing and closing his eyes.

'Rest, Inuyasha. We might be in for another fight at any given moment.' His beast spoke.

'Yeah.'
