AU Ideas I Came Up With

I'm over here drawing Nightshadow and suddenly my brain's just like
"Hey, heard of that Soulmate AU thing? Let's make our own version!"

So here are my ideas my brain yeeted at me.

AU 1: Butterflies

Basically, each individual has a certain butterfly constantly surrounding them. Take a Zebra butterfly for example; no matter what, it's always by your side, always flying. Another person has that same butterfly with them; that's your soulmate. When you meet your soulmate your butterflies fly away.

AU 2: Flowers

I've always been in love with flowers and their meaning. So, every individual would have their own unique flower. The flower isn't invasive, it's like the butterfly; the flower usually grows on your body over the heart, and the flower depends on your personality traits. Like Nightshadow would have a Cockscomb flower- Cockscomb flowers represent silliness and funloving (if I remember correctly). Your soulmate has a different flower, but that flower symbolizes some of your other personality traits. So in a way, you complete each other. When the soulmates meet or befriend one another, the flower petals start to fall off one by one until they're finally together and the flowers are gone.

AU 3: Songs

In this version, your soulmate can hear what song you have stuck in your head or are listening to. So like, they could be walking along the sidewalk and suddenly, "bECAUSE I'M HAPPY CLAP ALONG IF YOU FEEEL-"
When they're near each other, the song softens, and when the soulmates get together the song in their head stops.

AU 4: Familiars

Familiars are kind of spirit animals but helpers at the same time? They're usually seen around witches and stuff. Every person has their own familiar in this one; cats, dogs, birds, you name it, but it depends on the person's traits (like the flower one). For a talkative, hyper person, they may have a Siamese cat as their familiar. For a loyal, happy person, a golden retriever. You get the idea. Their soulmate has the same animal (as nobody has the same familiars except soulmates). When near one another, the animals start getting excited and hyped. Sometimes soulmates meet because their familiars took off to the other person. The animals don't leave though.

AU 5: Masquerades

Another thing I love; Masquerades. The masks are my favorite. You know how usually a masquerade couple have the same mask just in another variation? Like a woman will have a female lion mask and the man will have a male lion mask? It's the same deal for the two soulmates, they'll have matching masks. When they meet, and start to build a relationship, the masks will start to chip away until there's nothing left and their true faces are revealed. It's usually a romantic relationship based on loving the person for their personality, who they are, their interests, etc, not for how they look.

AU 6: Eyes

If you know me, you know I love drawing eyes and mixing different eye colors. It's one of my favorite things to sketch when I'm bored.
So one person's eyes will be white or black (depends on their personality), and usually they see things in variations of white or variations of black. However, when you meet your soulmate and build a true relationship with them, your eyes start to gain color, same with theirs. When it's true love, the two can finally see everything in full color and no longer have black or white eyes.
