I came up with this a while ago, mainly since I felt like making an OC blind-

The basics of this AU is that Middy was born blind, but it didn't start showing up until she was about 2-3 years old. Because of this, Middy started getting a lot more jumpy and ran away rather than stood her ground and fought. John, obviously, was annoyed by this. However he knew better than to attack a blind person so shockingly he didn't hit her a lot. Well, a few smacks here and there if she was being stupid but nothing too dire.

Surprisingly, in this AU, John isn't too bad...he's still a villain but he didn't abuse his blind daughter so you know he's actually got some sense. Anyway, Demolish and Pyro have n o common sense whatsoever and got pissed at their older bro, claiming that Midnight was weak and a mistake/lower than them because of her blind condition. John got agitated really easily and snapped at them, which turned into a heated argument, which then became a violent physical fight. Pyro ended up pinning John down while Demolish killed him. They didn't know that an 8-yr-old Baxter and Midnight had witnessed the whole thing. Bax tried to get Midnight to run away, for her own safety, but she was stubborn and wanted to stay with her brother. Demolish and Pyro basically took over the gang after they murdered John in cold blood, which meant that they abused and took advantage of Midnight whenever they got the chance. Whenever Bax tried to talk to Mids, she either didn't say anything or she would snap at him. Eventually she was driven to the point of insanity at 10 yrs old and shoved Pyro out a broken window on one of the top floors, which killed him (duh, he fell like 10 stories and hit solid pavement-).

At 11, Midnight targeted Demolish. She ambushed him while he wasn't expecting it and mutilated him by digging her claws into his face and tearing bits of his pelt off. Obviously she wanted to make this painful. She didn't know if he died of blood loss or not cuz she walked out and into the forest afterwards, still bloody and everything. Bax was left to run the gang.

Buuuut there was one problem; Middy still couldn't see and wasn't familiar at all with the forest, so she often bumped into trees or fell over logs. One time she bonked into a tree and fell over when she was 12. Cue Harmony.

So that's basically her background so far.

Middy's easily scared, even at the slightest thing that sounds off, and sometimes gets scared enough to shrink back into a corner or curl up in a ball and wait for it to be over. She hates being in a fight since, despite her hyper-hearing, she can't locate exactly where her opponent is. Yet, Middy also gets really angry when someone says she can't go on patrol or walk with them cuz she'll bump into something or endanger herself. She thinks they're calling her weak just because she's blind, basically. However her little anger fits can be easily ended if you pet her ears or head, it hits a nerve that calms her down quickly. She also gets kinda sad that she can't see, because she'd love to be able to see her adoptive family and who she's actually talking with. She doesn't like when people touch her without permission, whether she knows them or not, so if you're gonna pet her, ask if you can first (unless she's having an anger moment). Also she's surprisingly not very clumsy, she's very attentive to her surroundings, especially if she's unfamiliar with the room or place she's in. She's usually extremely cautious as well.
