The fifteen year old girl sighed in disgust as she boarded the Hogwarts express, her sleek black cat, Emerald, perched proudly on her shoulder, her well groomed fur oozing class.Adaline turned up her nose in dismay as a rowdy group of first years barged past her.
"Oi!" She yelled out, anger in her slowly fading northern accent present, "watch where you're going!"
The other fifteen year old beside her chuckled in amusement at Adeline's annoyance, "Do you think we were that annoying when we were that age?"
"No, definitely not Daphne." Adeline's softly curled brunette locks gracefully drifted side to side as she shook her head, " it's because we're Slytherin's the annoying ones tend to be Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors."
Daphne Greengrass, Adeline's best friend since nappies. If Adeline cared for someone it would be her.
"Have you seen Pansy over the holidays?" Daphne questioned as they wandered down the corridor to the Slytherin quarters of the train, "I tried writing to her but my owl came back with the same letter I sent."
Adeline frowned in confusion, Pansy Parkinson wasn't one to fall off the radar, actually it was usually quite the opposite, the girl adored attention, craved it.
"She told me she was going abroad on holiday." The brunette explained, "she told me owls may not get to her as she'd be in America. Did she not make you aware?"
"No." Daphne shook her head, sighing, "she must have forgot or expected you to tell me."
"Addie!" An excited voice yelled out.
The girl whipped her head around, a bright smile lit up her pale complexion, a twinkle of happiness sparking in her strikingly blue orbs.
"Blaise!" She screeched in happiness and let the much taller male scoop her up into his arms, "how was your summer holidays?"
Adeline loved him. They weren't dating, but she held a special connection with the tanned boy. If Daphne wasn't her best friend Blaise Zabini would be a strong contender to take that position.
"Meh." Zambini shrugged, "same old, same old. Pretty boring truthfully. I heard your family went on a holiday with the Malfoy's?"
Adeline groaned and gagged in disgust, "don't remind me. Our parents may love each other but I most certainly don't love him. Stubborn ferret nearly got me killed."
"What?!" Daphne gasped in shock and put a hand to her mouth.
"We went skiiing, like usual, but Malfoy had the brightest idea to give me a little nudge and of course I went flying down the mountain." Adeline rolled her eyes at the Malfoy sons immaturity, "arsehole."
"Speaking of..." Daphne whispered under her breath as a loud voice boomed ahead of them.
"Ahhh Zabini, Greengrass," a smirk lit up the bleach blonde boy's face as he rested his gaze on the shortest of the trio, "Charm."
"Malfoy." Adeline greeted flatly, in no mood to deal with the annoying male.
"Did you enjoy your holiday Charm?" Draco smirked widely, winking at the girl, "after all you spent most of it with me."
"Yes." Adeline replied snappily, "I most enjoyed the two weeks I wasn't in your unpleasant company though."
"Shame." Malfoy frowned sarcastically, "those four weeks I was with you were the highlight of my holiday."
"Yes, and I suppose when you pushed me down a mountain was your grande finale?" Draco barked out a laugh shaking his head.
"I was only giving you a helping hand." Draco smirked at the shining prefect badge pinned proudly on Adeline's robes, "looks like I'll be giving you a lot of helping hands this year." He nodded down to his own prefect badge.
Adeline groaned aloud, "I swear to God Malfoy, if you mess up my prefect duty-"
"Why don't we find Theo, Pansy, Crabbe and Goyle." Blaise interrupted the feud loudly, grabbing Adeline's hand and forcing her behind him, shielding the girl from Draco.
"Good idea." Daphne nodded, leading the way to their compartment which they had shared together since the first year.

"Pansy." Adeline smiled cheerfully, greeting her friend, giving her a friendly hug as the group walked into the Slytherin compartment. "Theo." She nodded her head to the quiet boy who simply nodded his back in return.
The Slytherin compartment consisted of only the highest, wealthiest, purest of Slytherins. Adeline fit the criteria perfectly, with both parents very high up in the ministry and faint relations to Salazar Slytherin himself it was safe to say she belonged with her friends.
The Slytherin groups train ride passed quite boringly, for once there was no drama, except Adaline glaring at Draco at every second she could.
"Would you look who it is." Adeline voiced out loud, not bothering to hide her disgust as she stepped off the train, walking with Daphne, Draco not far in front of her, "Saint Potter." She spat, "surprised he's allowed back here, mother said he used magic over the holidays."
"Surprised the Ministry's still letting you walk around free, Potter." Draco spat, "you better enjoy it while you can, I expect there's a cell in Azkaban with your name on it." Adeline sniggered, if there was one thing her and Draco had in common was their mutual hatred towards Harry Potter and his gang.
"No Malfoy." She disagreed with a smirk on her face, "he's such a kiss arse towards Dumbledore , the old bastard would never let his Saint Potter rot in Azkaban." Potter snarled and flung himself at the pair, causing Adeline to widen her eyes and take a step back.
"You're like an animal Potter." The girl laughed distastefully, "I'm not surprised with the company you pride yourself with." She sneered looking over at Ron Weasley who was holding Potter back and Hermione Granger, "I mean, like come on Potter, a blood traitor and a mudblood? You sure do know how to pick them."
"Shut up Charm." Granger replied feebly, looking towards the floor.
"What was that Granger?" She tilted her head as Daphne sneered at the enemy from beside her, "I couldn't hear you over the foulness spewing from your mouth." Pansy shrieked in laughter as Draco smirked proudly at her.
"What did I tell you?" Malfoy looked at his friends as they started to retreat from the trio, "a complete nutter."
"Just stay away from me!" Potter yelled to their retreating figures.
Adeline smirked as she turned around, "Potter." She yelled, "make sure you send mumsie and daddy dearest a letter notifying them of your safe arrival."
"Oh wait!" Pansy chimed in, "you don't have them!"
This sent the group wild as they all burst into another fit of laughter.
