Three weeks. That's how long Draco had kept up his tuff with Adeline and quite frankly the teen was fed up of it. Their cold departure from each other had been deeply unsettling with the girl and now her body was taking the hurt. Bags hung deeply below her eyes, the faint outline of her ribs from weeks of starvation were starting to become more prominent. Instead, Adeline just plastered on her cold demeanour and shook her pain to the side.Scoffing, the girl exited the prefects dorm, ready for her patrol. Draco was supposed to be doing the shift with her, however he had failed to arrive and now she was stuck doing it on her own.
Adeline bit her lip as she walked down the darkened Hogwarts corridor, twiddling her diamond necklace out of habit. The brunette didn't know weather or not to remove the jewellery, however she decided against it, coming to the conclusion she couldn't just let a pretty piece of expensive craftsmanship go to waste.
Draco noticed. He noticed every time she walked into the room how her hands toyed with the gems while his own played with the ring still situated on his finger, not having the heart to remove the sentimental piece. In a way, the boy felt guilty. He knew he shouldn't have blown up like how he did, but he was a Malfoy and Malfoy's were prideful. He would not be the one to admit he was in the wrong.
So, that explains why was he now trailing Adeline down the seventh floor corridor, too much of a coward to apologise to the girl he loved.
Adeline hummed softly under her breath swishing her wand as she muttered a charm. As expected, the dragon glided out of her wand effortlessly, the patronus charm like second nature to the advanced student. Her ocean eyes squeezed shut at the irony of her patronus, the memory attached to it now being one of the boy she was not on speaking terms with.
Draco bit his lip, suppressing a gasp as the beautiful creature danced around the corridor, filling the once dismal atmosphere with light. Sniffing slightly as Adeline looked to the floor, Draco felt his body become overwhelmingly filled with a deep set of guilt. Purposefully stepping loudly, the grey eyed boy held his breath as Adeline turned around, holding his breath as her eyes widened.
"Draco." She breathed out, immediately retreating her patronus back into her wand, the dull lighting retuning back to the seventh floor corridor, "What are you-?"
"I'm sorry." He spat out, every ounce of Malfoy pride quickly fading from his grasp, "I'm an idiot. I shouldn't have tried to pressure you into doing something you didn't want to do. I'll never try something like that again. It's all this stress from these OWL's I'm telling you Addie! I-"
"Draco." Adeline responded calmly, her expression unreadable to the Malfoy son, "you're a fucking idiot." She shot venomously, "I can't believe you were pissed off at me for not wanting to have sex with you!" Adeline scoffed, she wasn't one to forgive easily and she definitely wasn't one to crawl back into someone's arms.
"Adeline-"
"Save it Draco." She snapped, "if you want to get your dick wet go find some slut to spread her legs for you." And with that Adeline Charm ripped off her necklace and ring from the boy opposite her and thrust it into his hands.
Draco felt a little bit of his heart shatter as he failed to catch the jewellery, the prized necklace crashing to the floor, diamonds shattering onto the wood. A tear slid down his face as he looked up at his lover, no ex-lover.
"Baby." Draco begged, "Please don't do this. I love-"
"Bullshit." Adeline tightened her jaw, looking away from the blondes teary eyes, fearing her own would start watering if she gazed at him for too long, "you've proved what you wanted from this relationship Draco, now go find it somewhere else."
