The next day rolled around and as did another detention. Adeline was right, Umbridge made her write the exact same as the previous day for the exact same amount of time, the words cutting even deeper into her skin than before, causing more bleeding than before.

"Here Potter." Like the previous day, Adeline also healed the Chosen One's arm, while he stared at the blood gushing from her arm, which she neglected to treat.

"Why are you being nice to me?" The boy questioned as the pair walked away from their professor's office, causing Adeline's breath to become trapped in her throat.

"I'm not being nice." She shook her head and looked to the floor, "I'd just rather heal you so people like Granger and Weasley don't find out about this, I can tell you haven't told them."

"Why?" Harry's brows furrowed beneath, "why do you care about them finding out? If anything I'd think you'd want to see them like this." He gestured down to their arms.

"Do you really think I'm that sadistic?" Adeline frowned, him merely assuming that sent a pang into her heart, "I don't like them, but I wouldn't want to see them hurt. I wouldn't want to see anyone hurt."

"So you do care?" Harry further questioned, pressing the matter, "you do have feelings."

A flash of anger quickly built up inside the girl and she furiously put distance between the pair,
"Of course I have feelings!" She scoffed loudly, "just because I'm in a different house, the one that's labelled 'evil' doesn't mean I don't care about people. I'd die twice over for some of the people in that house."

"I'm sorry I didn't-"

"No." Adeline spat, shaking her head and glaring, "save it Potter, goodnight."

And as she walked into her prefects dorm and she noticed, yet again, a nervous looking Daphne and Draco, worried for her wellbeing. She cared about Daphne didn't she? She cared about Blaise, did she care about Draco? That answer was debatable, but she wouldn't want to see him in pain.

"Double potions this morning." Pansy groaned as the group of friends sat on the Slytherin dining table, "I can't see how you enjoy it so much Addie."

"It because Snape loves her," Blaise rolled his eyes from his place next to Adeline, "if he could give a grade higher than an 'outstanding' to anyone it would be Adeline."

"Theo is smart too." Adeline defended herself, nodding to the quiet boy who blushed at the compliment and rubbed the back of his neck.

"Yeah but you're like a master potion brewer or something." Blaise exaggerated causing Adeline to chuckle, "I'm not surprised Snape loves you, I mean who wouldn't?"

"I'm really not that great Blaise." She shook her head when the boy tried to pipe up, "but I will admit I do enjoy the subject which is why I probably do so well."

"Can we go now?" Draco snapped impatiently, "I don't want to be late when Snape's teaching." And with those words said, the Slytherin boy slammed his plate of toast down onto the table and walked out of the dining hall.

"Was it something I said?" Blaise looked at his friends innocently, Adeline shrugged her shoulders.

"Daph, how are you and Pucey?" Pansy asked the girl in mock interest, "you know, after the whole Blaise thing."

"I broke up with him." Daphne nodded casually, "Adeline empowered me to, I didn't even tell him I cheated."

"That is not what I meant!" Adeline's eyes widened as she choked on her cereal, a trail of milk dripping down her chin.
