Adeline sighed as she walked into the potions classroom, Draco sat beside Theo, Blaise on the other side of the room, the latter was sporting a rather painful looking black eye. In her desperate state, the Charm locked eyes with Harry Potter, him looking at her in what she only could assume was concern.

The Chosen One had been in their divination lesson and seeing Adeline on bad terms with some of her Slytherin buddies sparked an idea in his head.

"Adeline." Harry called to her, "come sit." The class fell silent, eyes glancing between the pair, confused.
Weasley and Granger looked at their friend like he had grown an extra head.

"Harry, what are you doing?" Granger hissed to him as Adeline drew closer, "she's a slimy snake."

"Making friends." Potter replied, smiling as Adeline occupied the stool beside him.

Truthfully, Adeline was only doing this to make Draco jealous so he would talk to her again, she had zero interest in whatever Potter wanted from or with her.

And Adeline was right, as soon as she sat down she could feel Draco's rage filled eyes burn into her, his gaze never faltering as Snape walked into the room.

"Good afternoon class." Snape halted in his steps as he walked into the classroom, noticing something extremely different, amongst a sea of red and gold stood a proud silver and green. Adeline Charm had always confused the Professor, far too smart for her own good, so when he saw the girl sitting beside one of her sworn enemies the potions teacher knew immediately she was forming a devious plan, he just wasn't sure what, however after taking one glance at the glowering blonde in the corner of the room the man smirked and paid no attention to the seating change.

"Today we will be brewing the-"

"Hem Hem." Snape was interrupted by the perky cough, Adeline had to physically refrain herself from smashing her own face into the desk. Snape bit his lip so hard the man could taste blood.

"Look what the cat dragged in." Harry mumbled underneath his breath, Adeline couldn't help but find herself agreeing with him.

"Yes." He drawled in his monotone voice.

"I'm here to observe you." Umbridge spoke, still holding her clipboard.

"I am well aware of why you are here." Professor Snape nodded his head, posture not welcoming towards the annoying woman.

"May I ask you a few questions before we begin?" Umbridge smiled sweetly at the man who only nodded his head curtly in response.

"You first applied for the Defence Against the Dark Arts post? Is that correct?" She circled the potions master like a hawk circles it's prey.

"Yes." Professor Snape droned.

"And you were unsuccessful?" The woman asks, fake sympathy coating her voice.

"Obviously." Adeline snorted loudly, glaring at Weasley as he snorted back at her.

"That will be all." Umbridge glared at Adeline as she left the classroom.

Snape strode over to the Gryffindors + Adeline and whacked Ronald Weasley over the head with a book, Adeline bursting into laughter as he walked off muttering about 10 points being removed from the house of the brave.

"Shut up you snake." Weasley hissed, rubbing his sore head.

Adeline left the potions classroom on her own that day, eager for a break from her Slytherin companions. Don't get the girl wrong, she loved her friends, however sometimes she just needed some alone time.

Walking alone in the cold, darkening corridors brought some sense of relief for the girl, after all the drama that had chased her the past few days it was nice just to finally be left alone in her thoughts. However, Adeline's peace is very quickly interrupted as voices hissed suspiciously to each other from around the corner.

"Voldemort is really out there isn't he?" She heard Granger sigh, "we've got to be able to defend ourselves and if Umbridge refuses to teach us how we need someone who will." For the first time in her life Adeline agreed with the muggleborn.

"Adeline's top of the year in charms." She heard Harry pipe up, making Adeline scrunch up her face, she didn't want to be involved in whatever protest the Golden Trio were organising against Umbridge.

"Give it a rest would you mate?" She heard Weasley scoff, "she's a snake. I don't know what she's done to you, but ever since your first detention with Umbridge-"

""She was at that detention too." Harry confessed, spilling his long kept secret, "she healed my arm after we left, didn't even bother to help herself, you don't understand, I know it sounds absolutely insane but I think that under that hard shell she's actually a decent person, I just need-"

"It's official." Weasley shook his head, "Harry you're going absolutely mental. Has she slipped you a love potion?"

"What?" Harry asked in shock, Adeline nearly vomited, she'd never go for someone like Potter, a
half-blood, shivers crept through her body as she could only imagine her parents reaction to bringing home such filth.

"Ok, so assuming she hasn't slipped you a love potion." Granger interrupted, "and you have say taken an 'interest' in her, do you not notice the way Malfoy looks at her?" Adeline felt her breath hitch in her throat, "I didn't think the ferret had feelings but it's clear to see he's completely infatuated with her, did you even notice the glares he gave you in potions?"

"I'm used to it." Harry replied dryly, "Malfoy always has a scowl on his face, it's nothing new."

"This one was different." The teen heard the girl's breath suck in, "Harry you have to stay away from her, or I fear Malfoy will really, really hurt you."

"I don't care." Harry spat ferociously, "Malfoy doesn't own her, he can't say who she can and can't talk to."

"But she can choose who she wants to talk to." Weasley patted his best friend on the back, "Come on mate, just let it go, she'd never give someone like you the time of day."

"But I'm the Chosen One?" Harry questioned them, puffing his chest proudly, Adeline rolled her eyes in disgust from behind the wall, she never liked how arrogant and prideful Gryffindors were.

"Yeah mate." Weasley shook his head, "but she's from one of the most powerful wizarding families in the world, her one family probably has more money than the three of ours put together, she's like-"

"Isn't that right Weasley." Adeline smirked, stepping out from behind the wall, informing the trio of her presence, shocking them all, Granger drawing her wand.

"I suggest you put down that wand down now Granger, before I show you what I can really do."

"Expelliarmus!"

"Protegno!" Adeline shouted, immediately drawing her wand and protecting herself, she was skilled in duels and could read Granger's every move.

"Stupify!"

"Confundo!" Adeline ricochet the spell, causing it to be deflected back to Granger, it successfully catapulting the girl back and confusing her. Adeline tilted her head up, a proud smirk on her face as she watched Weasley rush over to the girl's aid.

"What are you doing?" Harry asked the girl, betrayal in his eyes.

"I told you to not get too comfortable with me Potter." Adeline smirked, a ruthless smirk, "silencio." She muttered, pointing her wand at the trio, "petrificus totalus." Then they were frozen, paralysed on the floor."

"Didn't anyone ever teach you it was rude to talk about someone behind their back?" She walked over to the three of them and grinned evilly, "Filch ought to teach you a lesson when he finds you out here after hours."

She started to walk away, turning back around suddenly, "enjoy your night you Gryffindorks." She laughed and laughed not aware of another figure watching her curiously in the shadows, one she hoped she was on better terms with.
