Adeline walked to her first lesson, which happened to be one of her favourites, with a slightly uplifted mood, but still upset none of the less.

The dungeons complimented her mood perfectly, cold and miserable with a slightly homely feel. From the outside, the potions classroom appeared like how everything else did, silent and empty. Unexpected tears started to pool in Adeline's eyes, surprising the girl, she was never really a crier, but she was genuinely worried about her friends' whereabouts.

"Happy birthday, Adeline!" The class screamed loudly all in vastly different timings, people like Crabbe and Goyle were a few seconds behind, however people like Daphne were a few seconds in front, screaming it loudly with more excitement than even Adeline felt. The girl's best friend ran over to the girl, a spring in her step as she embraced her tightly.

"What the fuck?" The brunette questioned, all of her worry had dissipated, replaced by a faint burn of anger raging in her core, "where have you been all morning?! I was worried sick! I had to eat breakfast on my own! Daphne Greengrass you little-!"

"We were actually up all night planning and decorating." Pansy admitted, looking to Daphne, then Draco, then the rest of the group, all of them semi-nodding along, "all your gifts are now in your room too by the way, I charmed them to appear after you left the dorm this morning. The prefect common room is also-"

"Stop!" Daphne widened her eyes, waving her wand and placing a silencing charm on her friend, "you'll ruin it."

"Ruin what?" Adeline asked suspiciously, "what have you been planning?"

"Nothing." Pansy squeaked, wincing in pain, all colour draining from her face as Daphne stood on her foot, a forced grin painted on her lips, "absolutely nothing at all."

Adeline scrunched up her face and tilted her head, sighing as she locked eyes with Draco, him nodding at her and calling the girl over.

"Happy birthday." He whispered, "Pansy hid all your presents because she wanted us all to be together when you opened them." He paused, eyes drifting to Blaise "and some people refuse to get out of bed on a morning, so you're opening them tonight."

Adeline could understand Pansy's intentions now, "but I couldn't wait." Draco shook his head and produced a velvet box from his robes, smiling as he handed it over, "take it as an apology for all the crap I've caused you over the years." He breathed deeply, "I care about you Adeline, I think you're an amazing person and deserve this, which is why I wanted you to have it."

The Charm daughter gasped as she pried open the box lid, staring in awe at the stunning piece of jewellery, "Draco, you're not pro-"

"No." He grumbled in annoyance, snorting slightly, "I'm not proposing to you, you daft git." Adeline opened her mouth, offended, "I saw you eyeing it up while we were on holiday that's all."

"It's beautiful." She whispered breathlessly, blown away as she admired picked up the ring, admiring it's intricate craftsmanship.

"Solid gold band." Draco told her proudly, "18 karat emerald rimmed with hundreds of tiny diamonds."

"Thank you." Adeline thanked the boy as she stared at his long, slim fingers as he carefully picked up the ring and slipped it on her index finger.

"I bought my mother a matching one for Christmas so try not to show it off too much and ruin the surprise."
Adeline chuckled slightly, still admiring the fine jewels, the ring must have cost a small fortune, way out of the price range of a normal family, if anything the ring may have cost as much as a normal families home. But of course, the Malfoy's were no ordinary family.

"If I know anything about Narcissa, I know that she is going to adore this." Adeline whispered to him, unable to wipe the grin from her face, she was slowly taking a liking to the blonde boy and this gift had really been the cherry on top.

"You and mother have similar taste." Draco agreed, "now that I've seen how much you liked it, I'm positive she will."

"Draco, you really didn't have to get me this, you didn't have to get me anything." She shook her head at him, "I can't imagine how much this cost."

"Adeline, be quiet." Draco waved her off, "stop being so pretentious, you and I both know money is no issue for my family."

"Always the narcissist." Adeline muttered, causing Draco to nudge her jokingly, rolling his eyes.

Exactly on time Snape wandered into the classroom, cloak billowing out behind him, oozing of power and producing the most wrathful glare he could manage.

"Miss Charm." Snape spoke softly, eyes twinkling, "I believe I am right to wish you a happy birthday?"

Adeline blushed at the attention as Draco wiggled his brows at her,
"Yes sir," she nodded her head quickly, "thank you, sir."

"I told you ." Blaise sang, wrapping his arm around the giggling girl as the group walked out of the potions classroom, "he loves you! Come on, who else has Snape wished a happy birthday to? That right no one. He has a soft spot for you!"

"Get off her Blaise." Draco snapped at the other male, causing the dark skinned boy to scoff and remove his arm.

"What the hell Draco?" Adeline snapped, unaware of the now smirking Blaise stood behind her.

"You call him Draco now?" Daphne asked disbelief coating her tone.

""Who cares about what name he goes by." Pansy rolled her eyes and gasped, "what is this beauty on your finger?"

"That ring is beautiful." Daphne complimented, squinting at it in confusion, "where did you get it from? I've never seen you wear it before."

"It was a gift." Adeline answered shortly, leaving the group with further questions as she wasn't sure weather Draco wanted them knowing it was from him.

"From who?" Daphne asked, awed by the ring, "it looks extremely expensive."

"From me." Draco cut in, grabbing Adeline's wrist, her noticing he was a lot more gentle with her than he had been before, "come on, we've got divination, let's go or we'll be late for the old bat."

"Bye guys!" Adeline yelled, waving to the group with her free hand as Draco pulled her along, "see you all soon!"

As soon as Adeline and Draco were out of earshot the group looked at each other in confusion.

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Theo asked them, "that he seems-"

"Yeah,"Daphne cut him off, nodding her head, "definitely."
