"I am simply requesting that when it comes to students, you respect and prescribe the correct discipline." Adeline and Draco halted as Professor McGonagall's voice rang out on the staircase.

"So silly of me Minerva, but it sounds like you're questioning my authority in my own classroom!" Adeline looked to Draco, an exasperated look on her face who was already looking at her, a mirroring expression on his own. Of course Umbridge was going to be involved.

"Please can we just go?" Adeline pleaded, "I can't stand listening to that whiney high pitched voice."

"One minute." Draco quietened the girl, eager to hear what the feud was about.

"Not at all, Dolores." Professor McGonagall stepped down, her winkles creased with stress of the situation, "just merely your medieval methods!"

"I am sorry Minerva," Umbridge shook her head, "but to question my practices, is to question the Ministry, which in extension is questioning the Minister of Magic himself. I will not stand for this disloyalty."

"Disloyalty?" McGonagall scoffed in disbelief.

"Things at Hogwarts are far worse than I imagined." Umbridge announced gravely, turning to face the crowd of students that had gathered, "Cornelius will want take immediate action."

Adeline scoffed, deeply annoyed by the situation
"can I go to my divination lesson now?!" She yelled disrespectfully, causing the crowd around her to laugh.

"Who was that?!" Umbridge asked in outrage, looking at the smirking faces in the crowd, one in particular catching her eye, "Miss Charm, was that you?"

"No Professor." She shook her head, trying to appear as innocent as possible, however inside she was burning with anger, "I would never."

"Enough!" Professor McGonagall interrupted furiously, "get to lesson! All of you, immediately!"

"Do we have to go?" Adeline whined dramatically to Draco as the pair approached the all too familiar trap door in the ceiling, a ladder propped against it, allowing students access to the dreary divination classroom.

"Yes Adeline." Draco sighed, moving out of the way to allow the girl to climb the ladder first, "we have to go, I know it's a completely ridiculous subject, but it's easy marks and we can drop it next year.

Adeline crossed her arms, eying Draco up suspiciously, "you can climb the ladder first, I know you only want me to go so you can look at my arse."

Draco blushed, a pink tinge brightening up his pale complexion, "no..no." He shook his head furiously, "I-I-I"

"I'm just joking." Adeline laughed as she began to climb the ladder, "unless you really do want to see my arse, thennn..." Adeline looked to the boy and winked, causing him to blush deeper, sending her into a manic laughter as she continued her ascent.

"Oh, wow." Adeline gasped loudly as she walked into her bedroom, presents piled high in the room, "You charmed all of this?"

"Yep." Pansy smiled happily as she perched herself onto the girl's bed, the rest of the group awkwardly trying to find a place to sit among all the presents, "Oh!" Pansy noticed the group and waved her wand, causing chairs to magically appear for the group.

"You're actually really smart, you know that right?" Blaise asked Pansy, almost questioning weather the girl had really managed to pull the entire thing off, "like how did you manage to do this?"

"Doesn't matter." Pansy waved them off, "I like birthdays and I like Adeline so I worked super hard." Pansy picked up a sleek matte black box, handing it to Adeline, "this is from me."

Adeline carefully opened the present, grinning as her eyes met with a pair of silky black gloves.

"You're always complaining that your hands are cold so I figured this would solve the problem." Adeline sighed as she felt the fabric, it brushing her hands smoothly, the silk filling her with a sense of euphoria.
"Handmade." Pansy told her, "only the best for a Charm."

"Ooo!" Daphne gasped, excitement filling her eyes, "me now!" Daphne picked up a bigger, taller squared box, handing it to Adeline, who nearly dropped it, not expecting it's heavy weight.

"They're for tonight." Daphne grinned as Adeline pulled out a pair of silver sparking heels, "there Jimmies. I know you're obsessed with the muggle brand. I had to get your mother to list every pair you had so I didn't get you a double." Daphne rolled her eyes at the teens obsession with Jimmy Choo.

"These are stunning!" Adeline grinned, "they match the pink ones I have."

"Those shoes are about 3000 coins of muggle money." Pansy swooned over the dazzling shoes, "how'd you even get muggle money?" She asked Daphne in confusion.

"A witch never reveals her secrets." Daphne winked and laughed as Adeline moved onto the next gift, a box full of the girl's favourite sweets and chocolate.

"I hope you like them all." Theo told the girl shyly, "I got Crabbe and Goyle to help me pick them out." Crabbe and Goyle grunted and gave Adeline a nod when she thanked them.

"This ones from your mother." Draco handed the girl an even larger box, the entire group gasping when she opened it.

The dress was floor length and one shouldered with a plunging neckline. Hundreds of twinkling emeralds adored the green fabric, making it twinkle in the light, emphasising the long slit running up the leg. However, the Charm daughter wasn't looking at the dress, she was too busy reading the card her mother had sent the girl.

Dear Adaline,
I hope you have a lovely birthday. I didn't want to tell you this on your birthday but i have not heard from your father and I'm assuming he has not had enough time to write or to even pick you out a gift, so take this dress as a gift from the both of us. I also have gifted you a few potions books which I hope you find useful. See you at Christmas time my daughter.

"Your mother is very formal isn't she?" Daphne frowned as she read the card over her best friends shoulder.

Draco noticed immediately the far away look present in the Charm's eyes, he knew she was thinking of her father.

"My present now!" Blaise cheered, trying to uplift the mood, however everyone could see that as soon as Adeline opened the gift, which was a beautiful gold quill, that her mood had dropped, the twinkle in her eyes gone, her smile fake.

Draco could tell her father's safety was tearing apart the girl. After all, he felt the same.
