F O U R T E E N | SACRIFICE

"Bring out the girl, Bellamy!"

Shit, Carter cursed, running a hand across her face. She didn't know who decided it was a good idea to hide in Bellamy's tent with Charlotte, but the decision was instantly regrettable. They were trapped, that much was obvious. Murphy and the rest of the Hundred covered the area in front of the tent, preventing any escape from that way. She looked down at Charlotte, who looked scared witless. How could such sweet little girl like Charlotte be a murderer?

Carter shook the thought from her head. No. She wasn't a murderer. Carter was sure there was a good explanation why Charlotte said that. Maybe she just said it to save Murphy... Carter desperately wanted to believe it, but she wasn't that stupid.

"Why Charlotte?" Bellamy asked, breaking Carter's train of thought.

"Because I just tried to slay my demons, like you told me." Charlotte explained and Carter raised her eyebrows, looking at Bellamy with an expectant look.

"What the hell is she talking about?" Clarke demanded.

"She misunderstood me, Charlotte, that is not what I meant."

"Slay your demons..." Carter thought aloud before her eyes widened and she looked down at Charlotte. "Was this what you were trying to tell me about earlier? What this the bad thing that you did?" Charlotte nodded her head gravely. Carter's breath hitched. If she wasn't so distracted by the teens that intended to hang Murphy, she could have made cure Charlotte never said anything. She could have kept her safe. "Oh my God. I could have stopped this. I could have made sure they never found out. And now they're out for blood, little sister."She whispered under her breath, a forlorn expression swept across her face.

"What are you saying?" Charlotte asked with a frown.

"It's going to be all right, okay? I won't let them lay a finger on you." Carter smiled, ignoring her question.

"Bring the girl out now!" Murphy bellowed.

"Please don't let them hurt me!" Charlotte pleaded the three of them. Carter almost had the urge to pick her up and never let her go. Charlotte's fear was practically rolling off her in waves.

"If you guys have any bright ideas, speak up." Bellamy said, eyeing the three of them. Carter pursed her lips. She wasn't the one that suggested hiding in a tent. "Now you stay quiet!"

"Hey, those are your boys out there." Finn  defended.

"This is not my fault!" Bellamy argued, looking to Clarke who decided to pace as she tried to think of a plan. "If she had listened to me, those idiots would still be building the wall."

"If you wanna build a society Princess, let's build a society! Let's bring her out!"

Both Finn and Carter opened up the flap of the tent to look out. Almost all of the Hundred were gathered around, watching as Murphy stood in front. His face was beaten and angry. Finn exchanged a worried look with Carter before they both closed the flap. It didn't look good for Charlotte and that's what scared Carter the most.

"No, please Bellamy," Charlotte wept. Carter turned back around and bit her lip. There was no way that they were taking that girl all the while Carter had fight in her. Bellamy bent down to Charlotte's level and looked her straight in the air, his hands on both of her shoulders.

"Hey, look, it's gonna be okay," He looked up to Clarke, Finn and lastly Carter. "Just stay with them."

Before he could walk out of the tent, Carter grabbed his shoulder, making him stop just in front of her. "What are you gonna do?" She asked in a hushed tone.
