Shawn's POV:

My eyes darted around the flower shop.

There were just so many options, but I only needed to find the perfect one.

Camila loves sunflowers, but where are they? I asked myself.  Should I ask that lady over there? Wait, what if I bother her? No Mendes, do not ask the lady over there.

I walked through every aisle, trying my best not to step on the overgrown stems that curled their way in between the path.

I stopped in my tracks and bent over, putting my hands on my knees, and panting. I had just got out of the gym, so I was already pretty tired.

But I needed the flowers. "Excuse me, young man, do you need any help?" a short, plump old lady tapped my shoulder.

I smiled, wiping a trickle of sweat on my forehead. "Well, yeah. I just wanted to get sunflowers for my girlfriend but I can't find them", I awkwardly told her.

She gave me a toothless grin and shook her head. "Sweetie, why would the sunflowers be inside the store?"

I cocked my head and shrugged. "Sunflowers need sunlight, they wouldn't want to hide under the shade. Take your girlfriend, for example. Without her, you wouldn't be able to live, right? If you hid under the shade, you wouldn't feel loved, would you?" I beamed and agreed with her.

"You could've walked outside and you would've found them!" I laughed and nodded.

"Thank you, ma'am", I murmured, walking to the entrance of the store.

Sure enough, dozens of sunflowers faced the sun outside.

A man outside helped me with clipping some of the flowers off and making a bouquet. "Would you like to add a message inside?" the cashier asked me as I took out my wallet.

I thought for a while and mouthed an agreement. "Tell me what you want on the card".

"Uhhh... what about 'If I were a sunflower, you'd be the sunlight'?" The cashier tried not to cringe, but I mean, I tried my best.

I watched in awe as she wrote the message in perfect calligraphy.

She taped the message around the stem of one of the flowers in the bouquet and handed it to me.

I paid and started to make my way outside.

However, the same old lady from the start chased after me, handing me another bouquet of mixed flowers.

"Take these for your girlfriend, son. All the girls love these".

I started taking out my wallet again, but she declined. "It's Valentine's Day. We give out free stuff today".

"Thank you so much", I exclaimed, walking towards my car.

A smile formed on my lips as I thought of how happy Camila would be when I would give her the flowers.

Camila's POV

I stuffed myself into a blue, floral dress which came down to my thighs, and then debated on which shoes to wear.

My eyes scanned through the lines of footwear.

No, not those, eh, maybe, probably, definitely not, sure, why the fuck do I have those, ooh, wait those are Mami's shoes, no, not boots, no sandals, that works.
