The thump of my rapid heartbeat in my chest is all I can hear. It's all I can feel.

It's like the world is spinning around me, everything is blurry, and I'm dizzy.

My hands shake as I reach up and grab three boxes; Clearblue, First Response, and the Target brand.

I look around, over both shoulders twice, up at the ceiling and then back over my shoulders again. So paranoid someone might recognize me.

I set the three boxes under a new blanket I have in the cart for the sole reason of it covering the evidence.

If pictures got out, or rumors got started, if his fans found out before he did? All hell would break loose.

That's why my heartbeats in my throat, and my frantic eyes are ducking from peoples glances. And when a young girl walks by talking about wanting to buy his new album I took a sharp turn and rammed into a elderly woman.

"I'm so sorry," I blurted and, moving my cart, smiling apologetically and then rushing away.

Someone in this store had to know.

Someone had to know that I was three weeks late. That Shawn and I had unprotected sex when he got home from his festival run and now my period was late.

I fumble with my items in self checkout, trying to figure out how I was going to skillfully scan those three boxes without anyone seeing me do it.

"Ma'am, would you like some help?" A young boy who worked at Target asked as he watched me stare blankly at the items in the cart.

"No!" I snapped, looking up with wide eyes.

His eyes widened, taking a step back, hands coming up in defense. "Okay,"

"Sorry, no I have it. Thank you." I give him a tight lipped smile as he walked away from me, leaving me back to my dilemma.

Somehow I was able to scan all three boxes and quickly shove them into the target bag with the blanket on top in record speed. No one noticed, and really? No one cared. They knew who my husband was, not who I was.

Leaving the store and getting in the Jeep, I let out a deep breath. Step one to finding out was now over, all that was left was to take the tests.

I jump, almost hitting my head on the roof of the Jeep when my phone buzzes loudly in the cup holder.

Incoming call: Shawn

I sigh, taking a second to breathe properly and then answer his call.

"Hey," I say, starting the Jeep.

"Hey Baby," His phone muffles as he moves around on his end. "Geoff, shut the door!" He calls.

He's currently on the road again, a few more performances before he comes back to discuss a potential new tour.

"If you're busy you can call me later," I say as I look around at the random strangers walking around my car.

"No," He says quickly, "M'never too busy for you." He says before he grunts. "If Geoff could just shut the fucking door when he leaves a room." I hear a door shut. "Okay, sorry Baby."

"It's okay."

"What are you up to?" He asks and my heart rate picks up again.

"Um," I look around. "Just shopping."

"Oh? What for?"

I look in the back seat for an answer to spill out of the Target bags and they land on that blanket so that's what I go with.

"A blanket."

"A blanket?" He asks. "Why? We have tons."

"I um," I rub my forehead. "I just wanted a new one for the couch."

He doesn't answer right away and I can picture his furrowed brows. "Okay," He says slowly.

"How was work today?" I changed the subject.

I get him going in a conversation about his interview but the longer I talk to him the more my anxiety picks up. Not telling him is killing me, but I don't want him to know until I know for sure. Because if I told him now, it would all blow up and I don't want that to happen over a negative result.

Once I take the test, I'll tell him. Positive or negative. He deserved to know.

"Look Baby, I gotta get home and start some dinner, can I call you later?" I ask as I trace the steering wheel.

"Oh, you're still shopping?"

"No, I'm in the parking lot of Target." I answer, "And I think they're about to close."

"Babe, you should have said something. Of course, call me when you get home. I love you Baby."

"I love you too, I'll talk to you soon."

"Okay, drive safe Baby."

"Bye Shawn."

I hang up and let out another sigh and slowly make my way home.

**

I sit in the bathroom, staring at all the three boxes, the opened three boxes.

He's texted twice, wondering if I made it home and I know I should respond to let him know, but I couldn't wait anymore. I had to know.

But at this moment, I can't get myself to look at the results, all I can look at is the opened boxes.

It's not like it would be awful if I was pregnant, it's just, it's just so soon.

Shawn and I have only been married for a year, he just released the new album, and he's supposed to go on tour, I'm supposed to go with him. Travel with him for once, join him on tour before I find a job back home.

This would change all the plans we had.

I know I'd be okay, he's gonna be an amazing father, and I know we both can handle the responsibility of a baby, it just would change everything.

The timer I set goes off, again, and I finally stand from my seated position against the tub. I shut my eyes as I grab the test, holding it tightly and finally looking down.

Positive

I sigh, bringing a hand to my mouth, muffling my cries.

As much as it scares me, I can't help but be over the moon about being pregnant. I wanted a baby with Shawn, so bad, and now it's gonna happen.

He's gonna be the best father and I can't wait to see it happen.

I stare at myself in the mirror, looking over my body and bringing a hand to my still flat tummy.

"Hey baby," I smile, rubbing my hand up and down. "It's your Mommy," I get choked up again. "Wow you're really in there." I lick my lips as I swallow the lump in my throat. "I'll keep you safe Baby, I promise."

iMessage from Shawn: Camila? Did you make it home?

My phone buzzes on the counter and I laugh quietly, wiping my tears and calling him back.

"Hey Baby," He answers after the second ring.

"Hey."

"Where were you?" He asks and I can hear his concern over the phone.

I look down at the positive test. "Just taking a test." I mumble in a daze.

"Buzzfeed again Babe?"

I look up and smile as I tap my fingertips against my belly.

"Something like that." I answer.
