Camila's shoulders slumped, head hung, sighing as she dropped the spatula on the counter.

Shawn looked up from where he was in the dining room, helping Aaliyah set the table for the three of them.

"What's wrong?" Aaliyah whispered, noticing as well as her brand new Sister in Law seemed disappointed in the dish she just pulled out of the oven.

"I don't know," Shawn whispered back, shrugging his shoulders as his wife turned, with the pan in her hands, towards the garbage.

"What are you doing?" He asked quickly, watching as she stepped on the lever that lifted the lid.

"I burnt it," Camila said staring into the garbage can.

"Don't throw it out,"

"I burnt it Shawn,"

"Don't." He said, taking the dish from her hands and setting it back on the counter where he planned to dish everyone up. "Lee, can you pour some milk?" Aaliyah nodding and going to the cupboard.

"What are you doing?" Camila asked softly, standing next to him.

"Dishing up dinner," Shawn shrugs, serving her plate up first. "My wife made dinner, and it's time to eat!" He smiles, kissing her cheek as he turns to place the plates at the table, sending Aaliyah a glance that told her not to say anything.

Camila sighed, shaking her head as she followed the siblings to the table and taking a seat across from her Husband.

The pair have been married for 3 months now, and since the honeymoon Shawn hasn't had a chance to be home for as long as he had now.

The minute he sat down, Shawn dug into his dinner, taking a big bite of the lasagna. Sure the noodles weren't cooked all the way through, crunched a bit as he chewed, and the cheese was a bit burnt around the edge, it still tasted good.

He was onto his third bite when he looked up at the Mendes girls around him. Aaliyah was cutting a bite while sipping on her milk. His wife was pushing her food around her plate, lips pursed out, slight tears pooling in her eyes.

He looked back down and didn't quite get what was so wrong with the meal. It tasted great, it looked great, the few issues didn't outweigh the positives. He took the last bite of his piece, chewing away as he looks up at his sniffling wife.

He reaches across the table, taking Camila's hand in his, getting her to look up at him. She looks up with red eyes, finding his sparkling hazel orbs peering back into hers, teasing smile on his lips as she looks down to him stealing a bite from her plate. He pops the bite into his mouth, glint in his eyes and smirk on his lips.

Camila looks to his plate, finding it empty. "You ate it?" She asks, looking over to Aaliyah's plate who's was almost gone, fighting off her brothers fork that was trying to steal from her plate as well.

"Yeah it's so good Babe," He laughs as Aaliyah moves her whole plate away from him.

He stands with his plate in hand, ready to go dish up more.

Camila stares at him in shock, as he comes walking back with a second serving. He catches her look, smiling back at her as he takes his seat again.

** 11 years later **

"Hey Mom what's for dinner?" Asher, Shawn and Camila's 10 year old asks.

Camila stands as she pulls the dish out of the oven. "Lasagna." She says setting the dish on the pot holders on the counter.

"I love your lasagna Mom," Skylar, their 7 year old cheered as she climbed up to her chair.

Shawn smiles as he turns into the kitchen, "Hi Baby," He whispers, kissing the side of her head.

"Hey," She sighs, "How was work?"

"Work was good, getting some good progress going. How was your day?"

"Dad! I have to tell you what happened today at school!" Asher interrupts.

"And I can't wait to hear about it little bud, but it's time to wash up for dinner and I just asked Mum a question."

"Okay, and sorry for interrupting."

"It's okay Bud," You ruffle his hair, before he rushed off with his little sister to the bathroom to wash up.

Camila laughed as she looked back up at her husband, "My day was okay, had to stop by the school and drop off more clothes for your daughter,"

"My daughter?" He laughed, "She's ours my dear," He grinned, leaning closer. "What'd she do?" He bites his lip.

"Your little painter refused to wear a smock and ruined her brand new white shirt that her Dad just got her last week." Camila dishes up four plates.

Shawn chuckles, grabbing two plates as she grabs the other two.

The family of four sits at the table, talking about what happened at school, and what the plan for the weekend was.

When dinner was eaten, the kids clean up their respective plates, washing their plates and placing them in the dishwasher.

"It was good Mommy," Skylar smiles, washing her hands.

"Yeah it was so good Mom," Asher nods.

Shawn, who slides up behind his wife grins, hand sneaking around her waist. "Delicious honey, but it will never ever beat the first lasagna you made."

Camila rolls her eyes, scoffing as her kids look at their parents with confused looks.

"What was so special about that one Daddy?" Skylar asked.

"It was so yummy," He smiles. "Mummy has always been really good at cooking."

"Your Dad is lying," She shakes her head, "He's just a good Husband," She cups his cheek.

"I'm not lying, it was so good." He smiles at Camila.

"It wasn't, and I can't believe you and Aaliyah ate it, but thank you. You're too sweet." She bops his nose, before being whisked away to making cookies with Skylar and listening to her husband teach her son how to play guitar.
