(Y/N) POV:

Soo Jin entered the dorm with me, our arms laden with shopping bags. I felt bad, if I didn't have a class starting soon then I would've helped her sort out the groceries. I grabbed my bag, heading out the dorm, yelling out a goodbye as the door slammed shut.

I was lucky unnie wasn't home, I'd have gotten an earful for that sound. I slipped on my headphones, drowning out the bustling streets with music instead. I hummed along as I walked, thinking of how to continue the webtoon, what should happen in the next episode. As I was thinking of it, I didn't realise I had almost walked past the café I liked visiting. Darting in, I rushed to order an iced chocolate frappe before hurrying along to class. The professor said she had an important announcement to make at the beginning of the lesson and I didn't want to miss it. I wondered absently what it could be.

I entered the class walking over to Mingyu oppa and Eunbi unnie, giving them each a brief hug.

"Do you know what the professor wanted to tell us?" I asked, sucking at my straw, smiling when the icy chocolate taste hit my mouth.

They shook their heads. My question carried through the classroom which I now noticed was larger than our usual one- about double in size. Just then the professor entered. She beamed at us all gesturing for us to sit.

"Now, I'll get straight to it. The afternoon lessons we have weekly are now targeted to help you broaden your abilities in English literature. I want you all to challenge and push yourselves further than you ever have in your analysis, your writing, your discussions and for that I have come up with a new idea. From this week on, you will be partnered with a senior from this course and you'll be working together weekly. You'll be graded on your partnership so don't think that either of you will be able to leech off the other." She explained drawing sounds of confusion, excitement, and chatter.

She clapped her hands.

"Seniors please enter." She called and the door opened for a group of 15 seniors to enter and they all gathered in the corner bowing their head to the professor before turning to face us. Partner work? With a senior? I gulped, this could go either very well or very bad. I didn't think that an in-between existed.

"To make things completely fair and unbiased, each senior will come and choose a slip with a name and they'll be paired together. There will be no negotiations whatsoever." She stated firmly.

Each senior walked up to pick a slip of paper from the glass bowl that sat on the podium, I nervously eyed it. My future depended on the contents of this glass bowl, I wanted to laugh at my fate. The final slip of paper was plucked leaving the glass bowl empty. I felt Mingyu oppa and Eunbi unnie press closer hands resting on my back and on my waist as we waited in nervous anticipation.

"Right, seniors please call out the names on your slip one by one and find a place to sit at with them." The professor instructed. The seniors began calling out the names and slowly my class group began to disperse each heading off to sit with their respective partners. Eunbi unnie left first, squeezing my hand as she passed and then Mingyu oppa left, a brief squeeze to my waist as though telling me it was going to be okay. I fidgeted with my hands wishing I could slip my headphones back onto my ears and drown out whoever was going to call out my name.

Then a deep voice.

"(L/N) (Y/N)-ssi." I looked up to see a tall figure scanning the room, eyes landing on me as I raised my hand slightly. I suddenly recognised who the voice belonged to.

Kim Namjoon.

He walked forward, the remainder of the students parting like Moses before the Red Sea as he strode over¸ long legs allowing him to reach me in no time. He stopped in front of me briefly.
