Recovery

Shikamaru was sitting next to Tova hospital bed staring at his sister with worry. It's been a two weeks since the fight and she still wasn't recovering correctly. The Medical Nin tried their best but there was nothing else they can do for her. Shikamaru has been holding her hand the whole time with worry, he would apply chapstick on her lips, wash her face, comb her hair, anything that he can do to make her comfortable. Shikamaru sigh as he stood up from his chair, he fixed her pillow and blanket with a stressed out face, "Man, you are such a pain you know. I haven't been training because you got me worried about you." Shikamaru said while staring at his sister, "You better get better soon, mom is becoming more crazier than ever."  He continue while taking his seat, he took Tova bandage hand rubbing his thumb on top of hers, "Mom isn't the only one getting crazy. I am too if i'm honest." Shikamaru stared at the sky, staring at the moving clouds. 

"Shikamaru?" Shikaku said. Shikamaru stared at his father, "Come on son, We need to go somewhere." He said. Shikamaru stared down at his sister not wanting to leave, "I'm good dad." He said. Shikaku stared at his son, than his daughter who was still hook up to oxygen helping her breathing more comfortably, "Son, I promise it will be quick. Tova will be fine for 30mins." Shikaku gently said to his son. Shikamaru let go of Tova hand following his father out the door with a frown, he turned back to Tova while holding the door, "I'll be back Tova." He gently said with a small smile. Shikaku stood waiting for his son to follow, 'I hope this will cheer him up. Tova will be pissed she missed this.' Shikaku thought as Shikamaru walked out the door.

As they were walking with Shikaku leading, they spotted the new Hokage and Naruto. "Well if it isn't Naruto." Shikamaru said. Shikaku smiled the two women as he approach, "Shikamaru?" Naruto asked with a surprise look on his face, "What are you doing here, shouldn't you be somewhere stuffing your face?" Shikamaru asked. "How about you? You're usually still asleep this time of day." Naruto fired back. Shikamaru gave him a blank look, "Very funny. My dad asked me to come along with him, but don't ask me why." He answered. Shikamaru turned his head hearing his father greeting the woman with the blonde hair, "Hm? Do they know each other?" Naruto asked from over his shoulder.

"Greeting Lady Tsunade." Shikaku bowed respectfully. "It's been a long time." Tsunade gasp recognizing the man before her, "You're that kid from the Nara family." She said with a smile. "Hope you're still taking good care of the deer, I made some really good medicine out of those antlers." Shikaku chuckled nodding his head, "Oh yes, the deers are doing just fine." He said with pride. Shikamaru was very confuse as to why his father was behaving strangely, "Hey? Who's the blonde girl? And why is she talking to my dad like she's his boss?" Shikamaru whispered to Naruto. 

Naruto stared at the lazy boy like he grew a second head, "Huh? Haven't you heard, she's the Fifth Hokage." Shikamaru gasp in surprise hearing the news, "Huh?" Naruto leaned close whispering to him, "She's no girl. She's actually an old lady in her 50's" Shikamaru still couldn't believe what he was hearing, "Huh?" He still asked with wide eyes as the blonde woman began walking away, "I'll see you again soon, no doubt." Tsunade said. Naruto waved goodbye to his lazy friend as he too followed behind her, "So long, we're going to the infirmary." Naruto waved. Shikamaru eyes widen hearing the news.

Shikaku smiled down at his son, "See son. I told you Tova would be fine." Shikamaru let out a sigh of relief, "So, she's the one that can help her and Kakashi too?" Shikamaru asked. Shikaku nod his head with a smile, "Everyone that's been injured hopefully. They have the best chance." Shikaku was about to walk away when Shikamaru voiced his concern regarding the new Hokage. "That's really the fifth Hokage?" He asked. "Watch it Shikamaru." Shikaku said with a small smile, "That woman is one of the strongest ninja you'll ever meet. Don't let her good looks fool you. After all there's a reason she's the only female among the legendary Sannin." He explained. Shikamaru let out a disbelief sigh, 'She's not stronger than Tova if you ask me. No one is stronger than big sis' He thought. "Ok, but a woman Hokage? Not to sound prejudiced or anything, but is that such a good idea." Shikamaru shrugged without a care.
