"Sing a song!"

"No, what about the story of how you and papa met?" My 9-year-old daughter, Lexi-May, asks as I tuck her into her bed.

"You guys have heard this story already."

"We want to hear it again." My 8-year-old son, Jace, said in the bed beside his sisters.

"Why would you want to hear such a boring story, you've heard it 3 times before." My Latino husband teases at the doorway.

"Because it's cool," Jace exclaims, throwing his hand in the air.

"You just wanted an excuse to get out of bedtime." I chuckle and sit in the chair at the feet of their beds.

"No, we want to hear it," Lexi says and sits back up, her brother following along. "Papa, make daddy tell us."

"Hmm, what do I get out of it?" He smiles jokingly and he walks over.

"You get to be my favorite!" She cheers happily, I pretend to be hurt by it. "Oh shush, I love you too daddy." She giggles.

"Thanks, pumpkin, I'll take the offer," Deven says and sits next to me. "Sweetheart, let's tell them and this will be the last time. Right guys?"

They hum and nod, he pulls me into his arms. I sigh and smile, and with a nod of my head, I begin.
