"I'm heading off to work, then I have afternoon classes!" I yell to my roommate, Ronny.
"Alright, cya later!"
I hum, grab my keys and beanie off my hook, then walk out. I don't bother locking the door because I know he will when I leave.
My name is Maximilian, Max for short, I'm 21 and in my 3rd year of college, studying to be a mechanical engineer. I work two jobs to help pay my side of the rent, luckily I don't have to pay much for college because of my scholarship here.
I don't have family problems, except for my father passing away when I was 17, and my mom moving on way too quickly for someone who was married for 20 years. I have 3 biological siblings, 2 bother, they are twins and older than me by 2 years, and a sister who is older than me by a year. I am the youngest of all of them. I have 2 step-siblings, both being girls, both younger than me. So overall, 6 kids in the one family household.
I live a pretty normal life, normal ever since I moved out when I was 19. All the siblings and the new father were a lot for me to handle, so when I had the opportunity to move out I took it.
I haven't been in a relationship in the past 2 years after my girlfriend of 6 years cheated. I guess I'm just not ready to get back into relationships. I've officially not been in a bad depression episode in a year, so I guess life's looking up right now for me.
"Hi Tessa," I say to my workmate. Right now I'm just at my part-time, as a barista.
"Look who it is, the man of the hour," She teases and I just smile and shake my head.
"What now?"
"Blake and Mal keep complaining about how all the girls flirt with you. You've easily become the talk of the shop."
"Hmm, y'all know I could care less about that, right?" I raise an eyebrow and tie my apron.
"Oh, we know. Still bugs them though."
I shake my head then clock in. "Alright, cya."
"No..." She grabs my shoulder. "We are all going out tomorrow for drinks, you're coming with us."
"We, as in...?"
"Me, Blake, Mal, Ronny, and you."
"Sorry, can't. Got a big assignment I gotta work on."
"No you don't, we are going, that's final."
"No setting me up on dates," I point at her as we walk behind the counter.
"We won't do that anymore, you're fine. We are just going as friends, no need to worry."
"Why are we even going out drinking tomorrow anyways?"
"We haven't in a whole month, what's wrong with going out drinking on a Friday night?"
I roll my eyes and go to the register as she settles herself by the machines.
"You better make sure I don't regret this or get too drunk."
"Of course."

"I'm back."
"Hi," Ashly waves from the couch.
Ashley, Ronny's girlfriend, is also another good friend of mine. I was the one to introduce them. I'm glad for them, last month they had their year anniversary.
"Hi, where Ronny?"
"Class, I was here before he left so I just decided to chill out for a while, if that's good with you?"
"Nah, it's fine with me." I set down my shoulder-strapped bag and take off my beanie. "I haven't seen ya in forever, how ya been?"
"As well as I can, how bout you?"
"Stressed, got a big assignment, and the gang just told me we are all going drinking tomorrow, you coming?"
"They didn't tell me."
"I assume Tessa would just text you to invite you later, she loves ya like a sister," I sit on the couch next to her.
"Yeah, probably. Sure, I'll come. Got no classes tomorrow."
"Lucky. I'll have to find someone to sub for me at work tomorrow if I do want to go."
"You don't wanna? Why normally you're up for it?"
"I don't know, just not feeling it. Been hella tired."
"I bet, working 2 jobs, on top of college and pulling all-nighters sometimes, no doubt you're gonna be tired."
"Definitely. How you doing at work, ya got the promotion or Nah?"
"Nah, Boss gave it to the blonde bitch, she's so annoying. She was always nagging about how she has been there longer so she deserves it more than I do. I worked my ass off, while she would sit pretty and talk to the customers. But, I'm not stupid enough to nag about it as she did."
"Good point, maybe you should work somewhere else? They don't treat their workers well at all, why are you working with them?"
"1) it's close, 2) it does pay well even if it sucks, 3) I'm saving for a car. I need this job," She shrugs and turns towards the tv.
"If ya need, I might be able to hook you up with my place."
"Nah, you already hooked me up with Ronny, I don't need anything else from ya."
"Please. That was a relationship, not a good job."
"Maybe, If they will take me with my appearance."
She's not some skinny, pretty, blonde, or brunette model. She's a little overweight, pale white skin, with short, dyed purple hair, ear nose lip, and eyebrow piercings, and she's a scene person. She was Ronny's type, even though Ronny is the complete opposite of her.
Ronny is more than fit, black hair that goes to his shoulder, dark skin, green eyes, no piercings except 1 on his left earlobe, and he's a nice bright happy guy.
"They take anyone, it's not some serious business company."
"Great, then let me at em."
