You and Cody had been friends even before the Rescue Bots arrived. In school when he got bullied for being weird before the Rescue Bots revealed themselves, you always stood up for him.

But the reason of doing so may not be obvious to you.

You live next to the firehouse which is a nice convenience. Now, the Rescue Bots have already began their academy. Both you and Cody was in charge of the Rescue Bots. Frankie was moving in with her boyfriend. When the recruits were busy with Chase's lessons, you would spend time with Cody and Heatwave, but usually alone with Cody. Heatwave was one of your best friends, only he noticed your attitude towards Cody.

  "(Y/N)?" Heatwave called out while you were hanging up a picture of an outing you went with Cody last Sunday. "Yes?" You replied as you climbed down the stairs and slid into the bunker. "Can we... talk?" He asked you. You looked around for Cody. "You know something?" You ask him with a curious expression. "Pretty much. Now come, before I lose my patience," Heatwave scoffed.

  When the two of you are in a private room, Heatwave double locked the door and sat in front of you. "I didn't think you would fit there, Heatwave," you muttered. "I may be big but I'm not as huge as Optimus," he blurted out. "So... what do you want to tell me so urgently? You don't do this at all before," you asked. "I've seen how you look at Cody. You're... how old? Whatever it is, you like Cody, don't you?" Heatwave asked as he leaned closer. You gulped. "How long have you known?" You asked him as you adjusted your collar. "A few months ago, but I didn't dare to tell anyone else. I've seen firsthand what would happen if I do," he replied. You stood up and paced around. "You're nervous," Heatwave said. "Look, don't try to pair us up. I know I have zero chance to ever get close to him," you said timidly. "Dani might. She's not called as a shipper for no reason," Heatwave said. Your ears perked up. You shook your head. "Heck no. Dani would scream," you said. "Your problem. I'm out," Heatwave sighed as he walked out of the room.

  You were cleaning Heatwave one morning when Cody came with his hoverboard. "(Y/N)!" Cody called out. "Your chance, go," Heatwave's lights blinked. You sighed. "I can take care of myself thank you very much," he said before driving forward to push you to Cody. "Rescue Bots, the recruits are waiting," Heatwave said to the others as he transformed to his bot mode to wash off the last speck of soap water. He transformed to his vehicle mode and drove off with the others. "So I heard you just entered this 'cars' fandom," Cody started. Your stomach began to fill with butterflies. "Well uhh..." you managed to stutter out. "There's a car show going on nearby, you wanna come?" Cody asked. You nodded. "Is Frankie coming?" You asked him. "No. She's busy," he replied. This is definitely your chance.

You arrived at the car show venue by borrowing one of Cody's hoverboard. Both of you were blended into the crowd of other guys who were screaming and shouting about the latest car model. Suddenly, the lights turned off. You squealed. "(Y/N)! Are you alright?" Cody shouted due to the loud background noise. "I'm... afraid of the dark," you admitted. Long ago your sister tried to scare you while you were asleep at night completely surrounded by darkness. You felt something warm hold your hand and pull you away from the crowd. This warmth made you feel safe.

You found an area lit up. The light reflected on the person who was holding your hand. Blonde hair, handsome eyes. It was Cody. "I know you get claustrophobic and you're afraid of the dark, like Kade. I thought maybe this is too much for you. Here's the exit if you wanna leave," you hear Cody say sadly to you. He was smiling on the outside but obviously saddened at the inside. You did not hesitate to reject his offer on leaving. "If I leave, this means I'm not treasuring our relationship. I love you, Cody," you blurted out on accident. A minute Cody's eyes were wide open. The next he was kissing you! "Honestly," he said, "I liked you before. The reason I asked you to come out with me today was that I wanted to ask if... you wanted to be my boyfriend." You blushed. Then, you had an idea. "Close your eyes and you'll find your answer," you smirked. He did what you told him to.

You pulled him close and kissed him on the lips.
