Alex's P.O.V

We finished the song and John was now laying in bed while I sat next to him. He handed me something. I looked at it to see it was a necklace with an anchor on it. "What is this?" I asked him.

"Something to give to the boy that steals your daughter's heart," John said and placed it in my hand. "Let's be real. If she's anything like you, she'll have guys lining up to be her boyfriend. But when she chooses the right one, and she will. Then you meet him with Klaus and he approves. Give this to him. Tell him that when he gives this to her, she becomes the anchor to his world." John explained and I felt tears.

"John -"

"Please." He begged. "I meant to give you one just like it. But then we became vampires and it was too late." I stared at him in shock. "I just don't want it to be too late for him like it was for me. So, promise me you'll give this to that special boy." I nodded.

"I promise."

John smiled and started to cough harshly and leaned over the table as Freya ran up towards him with the bowl of Lucien's blood, pushing it into his hands "Here, drink this." She said. He drank from the bowl with Klaus, Marcel, Vincent, and I watched anxiously from beside him.

John was lying unconscious as I sat by him in the bed. Klaus sat by his bedside while John was curled up into my side. I rubbed my fingers in his hair, calming him down. I closed my eyes as I went inside his head to give him a perfect dream. (A/N: Most of this chapter and maybe the next will be inside of John's mind.)

We were seated opposite each other at the Mystic Grill. There was a musician picking up his guitar and beginning to play on stage. It was packed and John looked around us before laughing at my choice for destination.

"Perfect day in Mystic Falls. You really outdid yourself. If only it were real." John said to me as he took my hands in his.

"It will pass the time while we wait for the cure to take effect. And then tomorrow when you've recovered we can come here for real. I'm sure Matt won't mind as long as we don't cause any trouble." I said.

"I've always wanted to go back home and see what had changed." He said.

"Well, then we'll start there for sure," I said and we smiled at each other.

"Maybe with a candlelight dinner in the middle of the town square?" John asked and I giggled.

"I wish I would've known you were such a romantic, I wouldn't have played so hard to get all those years ago," I said to him and he sighed.

"Let's not speak of regrets. We're in the perfect moment of a perfect day. Let's try to enjoy it." He said and I nodded.

John and I were walking around town. "Well, the town's definitely changed," John stated and I laughed.

"Yeah, but the council still exists, I think," I said and he looked at me shocked.

"Really, I would have thought that died out after the 1800s." He said and I shook my head.

"It's Mystic Falls when does anything really die here?" I asked him and he laughed. We kept walking around and I saw a concert being held in the middle of time square.

"This is my favorite time of day. You can feel the town coming alive. People walking through the streets." John grabbed my hand and twirled me around. My shriek, out of surprise, turned into laughter. "While a concert plays for everyone to listen to." He said and then we continued to walk. Then Damon drunkenly stumbled into me, then walked away.
