Finally, the season was to start again and finally Aubrey would be able to go to her first afl game that Bailey would be playing in. To say that the experience was overdue would be an understatement and Aubrey was ecstatic that the opportunity was finally presenting itself.
"Are you ready for this afternoon?" Aubrey questioned as Bailey slid a plate of fruit across the table, towards his sister who had just wondered into the kitchen.
"Mmhmm, are you? I'm gonna fucking kill it." Bailey spoke with confidence. "I just hope that we win for you and to start off the new season on the right foot."
"Honestly Baz, I don't care what the result is as long as I get to watch you win." Aubrey grinned and finished her breakfast.
"Thanks Aubs, I have to go now but I'll see you after the game." Bailey said, he had to get to the stadium early. They wanted to beat the Saints in the first round of the year, starting the season on a high note was always something that made the boys happy, and he was extremely excited that the season would finally be getting underway. It was Baileys favourite time of the year, as it always had been.
"Good luck, see you later."~~~
Aubrey and Mila walked into Marvel Stadium side by side, they would be sitting on the second tier with the other family and friends of the players.
"Are you excited?" Mila asked and Aubrey nodded her head as they took their seats, they still had about half an hour to kill before the first bounce but Aubrey was adamant on being early and not late.
"Super excited, I hope they all play well." Aubrey said and Mila hummed in agreement. "What about you?"
"I love watching the footy live, this is going to be my first game in like two years." Mila said and smiled as she took in the atmosphere, her and her family had always gone to the footy when she was younger and it was a place where they bonded and had a lot of fond memories forever which is probably why she was so attached to the game, almost as if it gave her a feeling of familiarity.
"Cannot relate." A voice called and Chloe sat down beside Mila. "Welcome back though."
"Thanks Chlo," Mila laughed and the girls started to talk, unfortunately Logan couldn't make it as Lola was feeling a little unwell and they decided it would be better for them to stay home and rest up.The doggies theme song started to play and the three girls were quick to their feet as they sung and cheered along with the thousands of people that were also there supporting the same team as them. Aubrey found herself watching as the figure that wore the number 5 jersey ran out and her eyes were fixed watching him as he warmed up, something about the middle Dunkley child intrigued her but she was yet to even notice that she had some sort of interest in the boy. Aubrey was still clueless to the feelings that were slowly brewing and would one day burst out all at once.
"Aubs, are you still with us?" Mila waved her hand in front of Aubrey's face and Aubrey snapped out of her staring state.
"Shit, what did you say?" She smiled innocently at the two girls. "Sorry, I was just zoning out a little bit."
"Don't worry about it." Mila smirked and shook her head as they focused on the players that were preparing for the opening bounce that would get the season underway.~~~
Thankfully the dogs had held on and won by two goals despite the game being a very close one, if Aubrey was being honest half of her nails were gone because of all of the nerves that she had encountered throughout the game. Bailey had a standout game with 25 disposals and 2 goals, an incredible performance that Aubrey was claiming was only due to the fact that she was in the crowd. Mila, Chloe and Aubrey were now waiting for the boys to finish their post match meetings so that they could see the
and celebrate with them."How was that?" Aubrey chuckled as Bailey asked her the question and spun her around in a sweaty hug. "Satisfied with my performance?"
"You were awesome," Aubrey agreed and ruffed his hair. "I'm really proud of you."
"Thanks for coming out."
"It's been a long time coming." Aubrey said and Bailey nodded before hugging the other two girls who congratulated him. "Marcus Bontempelli!" Aubrey exclaimed as the boy made his way over and smiled widely.
"Aubrey Smith, did you enjoy your first game?" He asked and hugged the much shorter girl. "You look great by the way." Aubrey laughed at the compliment as she looked down at her dress.
"Thanks, also it was just the first game that I've been to Bailey was playing in." Aubrey corrected. "It was awesome, you guys were pretty good for most of the game."
"Thanks, had to put on a good performance for you." Marcus winked jokingly. "I guess you have to keep coming if we keep winning."
"You won't, you suck ass." Aubrey grinned at the boy who shook his head. "I'm kidding, take a chill pill."
"I have to go get in the ice bath but you keep doing you."~~~
