in which, a pair of people seem to have a natural pull to one another regardless of the situation

aubrey and josh can't seem to stay away from one another no matter what the other does, they will always build up what they used to have, piece by p...
Aubrey sat at home with a pounding headache that only reflected the fun that had taken place the night before, they had all had a lot to drink in order to enjoy each other's company and forget about anything that may have been stressing them out. What she didn't expect on that Sunday morning was to find a text from a certain blue eyed, brunette on her phone. There were two words in the ,essays, simply 'call me.'
"Hi." Josh's voice came through the phone and Aubrey took a deep breath, she was confused about the events of the past few weeks. They were starting to hang out together and then all of a sudden he just cut off all contact with her, sure she'd rather that then being led on but they were just friends so instead of being led on she felt abandoned.
"To what do I owe you the pleasure Mr Dunkley?" Aubrey questioned, though she kept her voice quiet as to not hurt her head.
"You sound like shit." Josh pointed out.
"Very smooth Josh, really appreciated." Aubrey rolled her eyes. "Why are you calling now anyways?"
"I meant to call. I really did and Lara had a few words with me when she woke up this morning."
"Oh, you didn't have to call if you didn't want to. Don't let her make you do something."
"No I wanted to, I swear." Josh took a deep breath and as he was sitting on his bed he ran a hand through his hair. "I'm really sorry I wanted to do something for you and I just got nervous, and in trouble."
"What do you mean?" Aubrey's eyebrows furrowed together.
"I talked to Bailey about all of this and he was very much against it."
"Stop being cryptic dipshit and tell me what's going on." Aubrey said getting impatient very quickly, as she always seemed to.
"I wanted to ask you out but Bailey said that because of what happened you wouldn't want to and I didn't know how else to interact with you." Josh said but when he realised what he had just spat out he slapped the bed. "Fuck."
"Josh," Aubrey said but he had already hung up. "What the fuck is going on?"

Aubrey had done what Josh was previously doing, ignoring the hell out of him. Not that she had gotten any messages from the boy, he was embarrassed and honestly acting like a child. His last relationship had ended around the same time as high school had and at the age of 23 he didn't have much recent experience at all.
"Bailey Fuckwit Smith!" Aubrey called as she stomped down the stairs wrapped up in a blanket only to get no response. "BAILEY!"
"Shit, is someone dying?" Bailey ran into the room and glared at his sister when he saw that she was fine, if her glare was to be ignored then she looked perfectly normal, or as she would after every night out. "What do you want?"
"You're a dick you know that?" Aubrey questioned and he sighed.
"What did I do this time Aubs? I'm trying to get stuff done." He pointed out and tucked some of his hair behind his ear. Impatience ran in the family.
"You know you don't have the right to tell Josh anything about me, especially not when it comes to dating." Bailey laughed lightly and shook his head.
"Baby sis, I'm just trying to look out for you. I wasn't even in the same country as you and I know how broken you were at the time." Bailey said and offended the girl a smile.
"I don't care, you know Josh well enough and you know me. I'm not going to let that happen again Bails and honestly right now I'm pissed." Aubrey shook her head at her brother who once again let out an exasperated breath. She didn't want to deal with him at that point in time but he just wanted her to understand where he was coming from. "Now he hung up on me after blurting it out."
"You're acting like a little kid Aubs." Bailey pointed out and Aubrey flicked Bailey's cheek. "Ouch, what the fuck was that for?"
"Leave me alone, I have to go figure this out." Aubrey stomped off leaving Bailey standing there with furrowed eyebrows. All he ever wanted to do was make sure that his sister was okay and seeing as he wasn't there to do it last time, he just wanted to be extra sure. Plus he knew how awkward it would be for him and Josh if they were to get together and then subsequently break up.

Aubrey finally pressed on Josh's contact, she had been thinking over what to say but decided that it would be better not plan and just wing it. Josh had been cooking all day trying to get his mind off of things, he had convinced his siblings that he was just in a really good mood to cook when they asked him what he was doing.
"I'm sorry about before, I wasn't thinking." Josh said when he picked up and he heard the girl chuckle on the other side of the line. "What?"
"Chill out Joshy, I wanted to say that Bailey doesn't control me and I'd love to try whatever you had planned." Aubrey found herself grinning as she heard him drop a spoon.
"Oh wow, yeah?" Josh questioned excitedly. He definitely hadn't been expecting that at all. Some part of him expected that he'd be alive forever, it was common for people to have insecurities and this was one of his and had been for a while. "So I'll pick you up tomorrow evening?"
"Sounds perfect." Aubrey could pretty much hear the smile that was on his face. "I'll text you for the details later."
"Bye." Josh hung up and Aubrey smiled as she fell onto her bed and hugged her phone to her chest, her heart beating quickly as if she was a school girl who just had her first kiss.
