Demi's pov
*1 month later*
Improvement. That's the word that we've been able to hear and see a lot this past month. Maya's able to move and speak. However she's not able to walk or sit up on her own. It's mostly being able to move her arms and legs as well as being able to move her fingers and feet. However she's getting on the road to recovery. She'll start physical therapy officially, next week.
"How are you feeling May?" I ask.
She stares at the floor with a look of pain on her face, "My stomach really hurts and my head really hurts."
"Does it feel like you're going to throw up?" I ask.
"Yeah."
Headaches have been frequent for her and due to the pain of them, it results in nausea. The doctors have been fixing it with pain medicine in the past, but are trying to not use it as frequently due to Maya's request for them not to.
"Do you want to maybe see if some cold water will help settle your stomach?" I ask.
"No." She groans.
Before I have time to react she's vomiting her dinner onto the floor only inches away from my feet as a nurse walks in for a vital check, "Oh goodness, ok. We'll get that cleaned up." She says.
Maya continues to vomit onto the floor and and I just take a few steps back and let her get rid of everything in here stomach. Once she does, I walk over it and onto the other side of the bed with Ava and Bailey.
Maya moves onto her side and Bailey pushes her hair out of her face, "I'm sorry you feel so bad Maya."
"It's not your fault." She whispers weakly.
"It doesn't mean I still can't feel bad for you. Because I do." She says.
I hear my phone ring and I step out of the room to take the call from Wilmer who's back home with the twins and Emilio as well as Bella. I choose to stay behind with Ava, Maya, and Bailey. This was far from an easy decision to make, but it's the one we had to do.
"How's she doing tonight?" He asks.
"She's having a pretty serious migraine and is throwing up right now." I sigh.
If there anything the doctors have admitted to us, it's that Maya could have migraines for a long time after this. Serious migraines that is. I know we should be lucky that this is the worst of it the possibilities, but it's so hard to see her in so much pain like this. I really does kill me inside to see her in this much pain.
"Ok call me back when you can, I'm sure she needs you right now." He says.
"Ok, thank you. Once she gets to sleep, I'll call you back." I say.
I hear the line go dead and I walk back into the room, "What did he say?"
"Who say Maya?" I ask.
"Dad." She replies groggily.
"How did you know it was him?" I ask.
"Ringtone."
I stand closer to her bedside as she makes eye contact with me, "He was calling to check up on you but wanted me to call him back later once he heard you were feeling really bad." I say.
"Oh."
"Is there anything you want me to tell him later?" I ask.
"No."
I watch a nurse walk into the room with a mop and I look back at Maya, "Do you want to try and use some ice on your head and see if that helps even a little bit?" I ask.
