I can't even cry, I guess I'll force it

To this new life, I could really get used to.

I would've said that if I was laying on an empty beach on a hot sunny day, drinking my cocktail while having the best time of my life. I could've been in Italy right now, but of course, I never learned to take any advice from my friends.

I begrudgingly stand up from the couch and walk over to the mirror and really—washed and clean I do look like myself again. Even if I'm wearing the ugliest dress I ever had a chance to look at. I also managed to bargain myself some food, and even though it was only a fruit bowl and some dumplings that were leftover from lunch, it was enough to not make me collapse.

"Are you almost ready?" A woman walks in the room, and as I've learned, her name is Celeste, and she's Jungkook's mother.

I nod my head slightly, looking back at my reflection. I never imagined my wedding day going like this. Honestly, it wasn't even in my plans to marry anyone. Considering I always put my career first, making it a complete priority in my life, I never really had time for dating.

"Everyone's downstairs. We'll be starting soon." Even though Celeste's words seem sweet and caring, her eyes tell me a different story. Her look is similar to Jungkook's, a venomous gaze studying me closely.

I follow her down the stairs, noticing all the lights are on since it's already dark outside. They had moved the table and covered it with a white cloth, so it serves as an altar, and I notice that nobody's in a festive mood. Not that they should be—it was highly expected.

I look at Jungkook and let let my eyes trail over him, observing his features. He's dressed up in an all-black suit, raven hair falling over his forehead while his expression is hard and serious. I keep my gaze on him for a moment longer before he acknowledges me.

Multiple second thoughts keep on poking my mind, but nothing worth of saving me from this manages to come around. I turn my head then, keeping my expression gloomy and bitter before picking up my dress and going to stand beside him.

"Are we all present?" The notary asks, looking around to receive a green light for continuation.

"Still waiting for the best man," Jungkook says dismissively, checking his watch.

"I can step in if—" Don begins to say, but the front doors suddenly fly open. I turn my head to see the causer of interruption.

"Hello family!" A loud voice emerges through the walls. "My arrival is a blessing for your souls!"

Elise watches with a horrific expression as her eyes land on a young male descending the steps to the living room. I can't help but hear Jungkook sigh in defeat next to me, and I get an amused smile plastered on my lips. I think I'm gonna like this guy.

"You're getting married, man!" The male shouts, pulling Jungkook into a bone-crushing hug—clinging onto him like a child.

"What kind of behavior is that?" Elise spits and he gives her a glaring side eye.

"Like you're any better, witch." He mutters, rolling his eyes, and I snicker in the corner, covering it up with a cough.

"Excuse me?" Her eyes are wide with hatred as she looks at him.

"Hm? Did you say something, auntie?" His face brightens up as he turns to her. "No? Then let's get this wedding started!" His hands clap together and his dark, amused eyes land on me. His legs have already brought him to my direction by the time I glance away, feeling the intimidation creeping in.
