'Cause sometimes it's better that way, gotta let it all go so your heart don't break,' cause I love you

I delete the text from Jimin as soon as I get it, sending a cautious glance at the office door and quickly getting out to the hallway.

Everyone's in the living room, making it a perfect opportunity for us to snoop around Don's office.

"You ready?" Jimin whispers while leading the way, continually glancing around as we go down the hallway.

"Yeah. Good luck," I nod his way, watching as he disappears behind the large wooden doors. In the meantime, I go and stand by the end of the hallway, keeping my watch out for anyone coming up the stairs as he's inside. My hands are sweating and my heart thumps against my chest as I wrap my arms around myself. The wait seems to go on forever, and in amidst of zoning out, another voice makes me jump.

"What are you doing?"

I immediately turn around at the sound, tilting my head as my lips purse into a lipped smile that doesn't quite reach my eyes. "Nothing," I reply a little too fast.

"You shouldn't be lurking around the house." Celeste crosses her arms, narrowing her eyes at me.

"You don't have a say in what I do. Jungkook doesn't have me locked up anymore," I say, getting defensive.

"Don't think you're powerful just because you're married to my son." The woman spits out, smirking. "That still doesn't make you a part of the family."

"That's not even my intention," I say calmly. "This house is poisonous. Full of secrets. Everyone stabbing each other in the backs. And I'm sure nobody even knows what it means to love someone."

Chuckling humorlessly, Celeste shakes her head, her brown wavy hair falling over her shoulders as she sends me a cynical smile. "You don't know anything about my family. I advise you to stay in your lane."

I hum, sending another tight smile before she finally walks away. Rolling my eyes, I glance down at the screen of my phone to check the time, already getting impatient by Jimin being nowhere in sight. It's been ten minutes.

Gently tapping my foot on the floor, I let out a harsh breath amidst running a hand through my hair. I know I'm capable of sending anyone away, except for Don and maybe Jungkook. I impatiently look around, anticipating Jimin's arrival from the office when a sudden figure sneaks up from behind me for another time.

"Raina."

Taking a harsh intake of air, I cup my mouth and turn around to face the causer of me nearly getting a heart attack. His footsteps were inaudible, making me not be able to act in time. My heart clenches in my chest, urging me to do something that wouldn't make him suspicious.

"What are you doing?" Jungkook asks upon my silence.

"What am I doing?" I ask back, beginning to get nervous and suddenly wishing that Jimin wouldn't come in sight anytime soon. Slowly, I move to the right side of Jungkook, wanting to make him turn his back to the office door and fully face me, and luckily, he does.

The squint in his eye, and the suspicious tilt of his head tell me that he finds me acting odd, suspiciously tilting his head as he keeps his hands in the pockets of his pants. "What's going on? Why aren't you upstairs?"

While trying to come up with an answer, my eyes widen then for a fraction as I see Jimin quietly coming out of the office. We make a split second eye contact as I look over Jungkook's shoulders, and without thinking twice, I grip on them and smash my lips against his, pulling him down with my arm wrapped around his neck.

Peeking my one eye open, I see Jimin giving me a look, nearly beginning to laugh as I histerically motion with my hand for him to leave and hide.

I feel Jungkook's hands on my hips as he brings me closer, our lips moulding together and I let it all happen. My mind is racing with my inner-self screaming at the sudden intimacy. I nearly forget it's not real, and that I need to get away from these soft lips, his large hands on me, and his body that's pressed against mine. Oh God.

Slowly, I pull away, seeing his expression that I once again can't read. We stare at each other for a moment before I decide to leave the scene and awkwardly climb the stairs to disappear into Jimin's room.

A huge burden is lifted off my shoulders ever since I can walk around freely, and right now, I'm more grateful than I ever was before. Rushed, I close the door behind me, seeing that Jimin's waiting inside and trying to contain his laughter.

"That was the best save I've ever seen." He chuckles and I smack his arm and sit down on the chair.

"You'd rather be caught?" I raise a brow, seeing him lift his arms in defense before placing a stack of papers on my lap.

"I could only get that," he says, observing me. "It's your dad's check for the stolen money. He returned thirty thousand." he shuffles with the papers and turns them to me. "My guess is that they'll have him launder money."

"Meaning?"

"Meaning—" he begins, placing another paper on the top. "—that he will bring it across the border. That's if they don't catch him."

"There was also a plane ticket on the desk, and I'm figuring it's ready for him." he shrugs.

"So if he does this job..." I hesitate. "Jungkook will let me go and leave both me and my dad alone."

Jimin stares at me momentarily, pursing his lips. "Don't think too far ahead. You never know what he's capable of until that happens."
