Chapter 05: Mrs. Clearwater, new sitter

Wynonna looks at her sleeping siblings when she wakes up a couple says later. She sighs and she goes back to her room. She got their lights and heat on, and she moved herself and her siblings in all the way.

Nona gets dressed for the day until she hears the pat of bare feet on the wooden floors. She turns and spits Nigel walking in. He smiles at his sister before he hugs her legs. Wynonna combs her fingers through his curls before she tells him to get dressed.

Charlie found a woman named Sue Clearwater in La Push as a possible babysitter for Nigel and Eliza during the day. Wynonna and the kids are going over there today. She spoke to Nigel about it when Charlie to,d her and he's ok with it. He knows about Nona's abilities and knows she wants to swing through the woods using her webs and is willing to spend time with a nice person while his sister is being happy by swinging with her webs.

Wynonna dresses Eliza and she makes sure both her siblings are fed. She'll feed herself later. She straps them into the Mercedes she bought the other day and gets in herself.

           "Why didn't you eat, Nona?" Nigel asks innocently.

           "I'll eat later when I'm hungry, Nigel," Wynonna replies as she drives to La Push. "Are you going to be nice when I talk to Sue?"

           "Yes, sissy, I'll be good," Nigel replies. "Can I... um, can I ask you something, Nona?"

            "What is it, babe?" Wynonna asks her little brother.

           Nigel hesitates, which is uncommon for him. "Will you adopt us?"

            Wynonna looks back at them after parking i n front of the Clearwater home. "What?"

            "I mean it, Nona," Nigel says without missing a beat. "You raised us when mommy and dad focused more on their sciences, even when you were still learning about your... magic powers. Will you adopt us?"

            "Of course I will," Wynonna replies. "Let us get settled into Forks and I'll see if uncle Charlie can help me find a good adoption agency to start the process. How's that sound?"

         "Good, Nona," Nigel replies.

          Wynonna gets out of the car and she puts Eliza in her hip and Nigel walks up beside her. Nona rings the doorbell and a fourteen or fifteen year old boy opens the door, he and his sister are missing school today. He smiles widely.

           "Hi!" He greets happily. "Can I help you?"

          "I'm Wynonna Ryder, your mom's expecting me?" Nona says as she moves Eliza to her other hip.

         "Oh!" Seth gasps. "Come in." He moves to let the three in. "I'm Seth, her youngest kid. I'll go get my mom!" He runs upstairs as a man in a baseball cap walks in.

           "He's always the life of the house," the man muses. "I'm Harry, Sue's husband."

           "I'm Wynonna. This is Eliza, and Nigel," Nona says. "Nigel, be polite and say hi."

            The light skinned six year old smiles shyly and he waves. "Hi."

Heart smiles at the small child and greets him in return. He leaves the house after telling Wynonna that Sue will probably be just a moment. Wynonna and her siblings stand in the foyer until an older woman with russet skin and silky black hair comes walking in.

"You must be Wynonna, Eliza, and Nigel," she coos. "I'm Sue Clearwater, the babysitter you're uncle recommended."

"Nigel, say hello to Sue," Wynonna instructs softly.

"Hi," Nigel greets shyly.

"Seth, take the kids up to play with the toys I bought," Sue instructs. "I need to speak with Wynonna."

Eliza squeaks loudly as Seth grabs her and she smiles at him. Seth grins back and he leads Nigel upstairs while carrying Eliza. Sue and Wynonna walk to the dining room to talk.

            "Who are these two?" Leah Clearwater asks her little brother as she enters his rooms and finds two kids. "And who's that talking to mom?"

           "The one downstairs is Wynonna Ryder, and these two are her siblings. Nigel and Eliza," Seth replies. "Mom's gonna babysit them if Wynonna agrees."

          "She won't pass that up," Leah muses as she picks up Eliza. "Hi, pretty girl." She sits with her brother and she hangs out with him and the kids.

            Since she's literally been aching watch small kids again for the first time since Seth got older, Sue agreed to start her babysitting job today to show Wynonna that she is a reliable babysitter.

          Wynonna is swinging through the woods using her webs, swinging from tree to tree. She stops in one and crouches down and she looks beneath her when she hears a growling type noise.

             Nona sees a woman with caremel brown hair but can see nothing else. The woman has her teeth sunk into the veins of a deer. Wynonna watches silently.

           But of course, Esme Cullen can smell a human. She thinks nothing of it because she's sure they haven't witnessed her feeding. She'd have heard their heart rate pickup and running. But Wynonna is pretty brave... especially after what's going on with her because of a spider bite from an experimental spider from her dad's studies.

                  Wynonna throws her wings to a tree across the clearing and she swings across. Esme quickly follows her body and her golden-brown eyes widen. A human flying with webs from her wrists? The vampire has never seen anything like it before and plans to run it by Carlisle.

             Wynonna drops in front of her car at the beach in La Push and she drives it back to the Clearwater house. Nigel is bragging about Sue and Sue says that Nona doesn't have to pay her. She's more than willing to watch the kids for free. Says everyone needs a break every once in a while and Wynonna couldn't agree more.

         Wynonna sets a bath for Nigel and Eliza separately and tucks them into their beds. Nigel in his big boy bed and Eliza in crib.  She kisses both their heads and she goes to her room to look up people feeding on blood, rather it be animal blood or human. It was still someone feeding on blood when Nona was swinging and took a pause.

              "A girl swinging by webs?" Carlisle inquires as he looks at his wife with a baffled expression. "Are you sure?"

      "I'm sure, honey," Esme replies. "And not just any girl... A human girl. The webs shot from her wrists and she swing above my head. Smelled spectacular."

                 "Huh," Carlisle hums. "That's odd. I guess Forks is the best choice for her then, huh? A bunch of trees to swing from and now wr're not the only... abnormals here."

           Esme hums in agreement and she kisses Carlisle lovingly. "I love you, my love."

           "I love you, too, Esme," Carlisle replies as he pushes hair behind her ear. "For an eternity and beyond that, even."

           Esme berries herself in his arms and Carlisle kisses the top of his wife's head as they hug.
