Chapter 22: So cool!

                 Nigel watches as the people he's grown to adore turn into huge wolves in amazement. The wolves he remembers well from the woods when they fought off the vampire. Something he now knew about.

           "That's so cool!" Nigel exclaims and he walks up to Sam's wolf and he touches his chest. "You're the one who nudged me to run."

            Emily chuckles from the back porch as Nigel rambles on to the wolves, who are all laying around and listening to the seven year old go on and on about how cool they are now. And how they're even cooler now that they can turn into humongous wolves.

            They all hang around a bit longer before they take off walking through the woods, Wyn on Jared's back and Nigel on Paul's. They phase back when they get to Jacob's and they emerge from the trees - seeing Bella's truck parked in front of it.

            "Go on inside," Paul whispers, knowing how pissed Wynonna is at Bella. "We'll be right behind you. Nigel, you go in where it's warm, it's raining."

           Nigel and Wyn head inside when Billy opens the door for him. Billy sees the way Nigel's hazel eyes light up when the pack all finally enter. He then knows that Nigel knows and he took it amazingly.

           "Jacob," Sam sighs as an upset and angry, and new wolf Jacob enters the house. "I'm sorry, but..."

           "I just got her and now I lost her," Jacob grounds out as Nigel talks to Billy about the pack saving his and Bella's life, and about why Wynonna won't talk to Bella anymore. 

             "You could hurt her!" Sam growls out. "You could slip and expose the secret, do you want that to happen?"

          "Nigel knows," Jacob says.

         "And you saw what he saw the other day in that meadow," Sam says softly. "If we didn't tell him, he'd have been traumatized and needed therapy. And now, he knows we have his back and the Cullens will if they ever come back."

             Jacob glances at his dad and Nigel, who are laughing and talking. He then looks at Wynonna, who is laughing at something Jared did, and Paul is chuckling in amusement himself. Embry, who is also new, is gawking at  Wynonna, he was caught off guard at how attractive she was when they first met, but he's glad she doesn't mind him gawking.

           "Right," Jacob sighs. "I remember... I'm gonna go change."

             Wynonna smiles at Billy before she looks at Nigel. "Nigel, come on. We need to get Eliza and go home. I have the big appointment tomorrow."

            Nigel sees Paul's eyebrows raise. "I find out if I'm getting a baby sister or brother."

          "Sam, do I have patrol tomorrow?" Paul asks.

         "Are you wanting to see the big ultrasound on your kid?" Sam asks with a smile, a warm glint in his brown eyes.
      
           "I'm hoping to," Paul replies.

         "You can take the patrol off, Jared can double," Sam states.

           "And I'm more than willing to lose some sleep," Jared states. "You're finding out if it's a son or daughter. That's a huge milestone."

           Paul nods and he watches as Wyn leaves with Nigel. "Yeah, it is."

            Wynonna lets Leah in when the kids are bathed and sleeping. The friends head up to Wynonna's bedroom. They lay in the bed together, and talk for a moment before falling asleep.
