Chapter 42: An upset Jake

               Jacob comes over as soon as he hears that Bella is sick, knowing the truth of what's wrong with her. Or... thinking he knows the truth about what's wrong with Bella.

           Rosalie steps include front of Bella protectively as Jake walks closer. "Close enough."

         "What's your problem?" Jacob asks as Wyn rocks Adam.

          "Rose, it's okay," Bella claims.

          Jacob sits beside Bella, unable to see her swollen stomach because of the quilt Rosalie laid over her. Bella is sickly lake and her face looks like it's sinking in like a ghost.

         "You look terrible," Jacob claims.

        "Yeah, it's nice to see you, too," Bella replies sarcastically.

         "So, are you gonna tell me what's wrong with you?" Jake asks.

         Bella asks Rosalie to stand and the blonde does so. Bella pulls her long sleeved shirt down over her swollen stomach and Jacobs eyes grow wide in fury and worry as he storms up to Edward, yelling in his face that he did this.

          "I didn't even know this was possible," Carlisle speaks up from where he's sitting.

         "What is it?" Jacob asks.

         "I'm not sure," Carlisle replies as Jasper takes Adam and he brings him upstairs, and Wyn goes to swing in the woods. "Ultrasounds and needles won't penetrate the embryonic sac."

            "I can't see it, either," Alice claims from beside Alexander. "And I can't see Bella's future anymore."

         "We e been researching legends, but there isn't much to go on," Carlisle claims. "What we do know is that it's strong. And fast-growing."

          "Then why haven't you done anything!?" Jacob growls. "Take it out of her!"

            "This is joe of your business, dog!" Rosalie snaps right back.

         "Rose!" Esme scolds. "All this fighting isn't good for Bella," she adds as Wyn helps her cousin sit back down.

            "The fetus isn't good for Bella," Alice states.

         "Just say the word, Alice," Rosalie sneers. "Baby. It's just a little baby."

           "Possibly," Alexander comments beneath his breath but is still heard.

         "Carlisle, you've got to do something," Jacob says, almost pleading."

           "No. It's not his decision," Bella demands. "It's not any of yours."

         "Jacob, I need to talk to you," Edward says and he goes outside, Jake follows him.

          Wynonna touches Bella's belly with a concerned smile before she heads upstairs. Jasper gives Wyn a kiss before he walks out to join his other family members downstairs. Wyn lays in the bed beside Adam as Nigel and Eliza come walking in.

            The two carefully lay on either side of Adam, both facing the baby who is on his back. Wyn smiles at her kids and she lays on her side with her arm tucked under her head. She's beyond happy now that she's in Forks instead of Seattle.
