"Tell me your story," Wyn says to her boyfriend when she wakes up the next morning, hearing Charlie with the kids downstairs. "Charlie can't hear you."
"Alright," Jasper replies. "Just... don't speak until I'm finished. It'll be hard."
"I understand," Wynonna replies. "I'll be quiet."
"I was born Jasper Whitlock in Houston, Texas on the year of 1844," Jasper begins as he sits up some. "In 1861, at the age of seventeen, I joined the confederate army. I had a way with persuasion then, and charm, I guess."
"I did so good, apparently. Within two years, when I reached nineteen, I was promoted. Becoming the youngest major in Texas history. I had just got finished evacuating women and children, and headed back towaed Galveston."
"Along the way, I had to stop my horse, coming across three women. Maria, Lucy, and Nettie. Of course, I had no idea what they were at the moment."
Jasper raised the sleeves on the long sleeve he wore and shows his human blood singer his scars. Battle scars, that's what Rosalie taught him to call them, and he has since she scolded him.
"Battle scars," Jasper states. "I had immediately offered Maria and her ladies my aid, being the gentlemen I was. But then I found out what she was and what she wanted me for. Maria was creating an army."
Wynonna sighs, understanding. The immortal who turned Jasper did it for her own selfish reasons. To help her with her newborn army or to be apart of it. Wyn scoffs, but says nothing as Jasper told her not to.
"Newborns were very common in the south," Jasper continues, pleased that Wynonna is keeping quiet as he asked. "Constant brutal battles for territory. Maria won 'em all. She was smart, careful, and she had me. I was the second in command. My ability to control emotions served her well. I trained her newborns."
Jasper continues telling his story to Wynonna, the memories are flooding his mind as he speaks without glancing at the human sitting behind him. He tells every memory he has, every emotion he had. He didn't know there was another way to live until he came across Alice and Alex, after his friend Peter helped him get free.
Wynonna and Jasper go downstairs to relieve Charlie when Jasper finishes telling his upbringing. Charlie bids them both farewell before he heads out and to the station. He knew the couple needed a decent conversation, so he was patient.
Eliza is sitting in the floor at the coffee table, she is coloring in a coloring book Leah got her for her second birthday. Nigel is sitting on the couch behind his little sister, watching Tom & Jerry on tv. That's one of the seven year old's favorite cartoons that comes on. Emmett also seems to like it. Because he's sitting right there with Nigel, his eyes glued to the tv and laughing every once in a while.
Emmett glances at Jasper, and smiles proudly at him. He heard him telling Wyn his story. Jasper looks down bashfully before he sits on the floor with Eliza. Wynonna sits on the other side of Nigel, and the group of four enjoy cartoons and each other's company until it's the kids' bedtimes.
