Since Bella's 'reasoning' for leaving with the Cullens was horrible, it left Charlie beyond upset. So Wynonna and the kids are spending the day with Charlie while Bella is with the Cullens in whatever location James went to or Alice saw.
According to Esme during their phone call, Bella is with Alice, Alexander, and Jasper in Phoenix. Bella's other home, the place where she lived prior to Forks.
Charlie is waiting for Nona to finish using the bathroom. Nigel is sitting on the couch with Eliza, Charlie is watching the kids with awe and want. He wishes his own daughter would love him as much as his nieces and his nephew do. It saddens him. But he perks up when Nigel hugs him.
"What's this for, kid?" Charlie asks.
Nigel pulls away and looks directly into his uncle's eyes. "Because you're sad, uncle Charlie, I don't want you to be sad. Be happy."
Charlie ruffles the hair on top of Nigel's head and they see Nona come downstairs. She straps Eliza into her seat before they all head toward Port Angeles for a movie. They're watching a kid appropriate movie, for Eliza and Nigel.
As much as Wynonna surprisingly trusts the Cullens, she can't help but worry about her cousin's safety. As far as she could tell, James was... wreckless, and didn't care what got in the way. He wanted Bella. And since James probably could sense how protective the Cullens were over her, he was willing to die getting to her.
Wynonna sighs as Jasper fills her mind during the kid movie that Nigel and Eliza are really into, Charlie, too. He's really attractive and he'd keep staring at her. He wouldn't stand too close, but was never too far away, either. Nona plans to ask either him or Carlisle about it. Esme had told her that Carlisle is the oldest of them; so she assumes he knows a little bit more.
Since is the afternoon when the movie ends, the family go to the diner in Forks. Charlie smiles in awe at his niece as they sit around his usual table. Eliza is chowing down on fries and ketchup, Nigel is eating some chicken strips and fries, Charlie has his usual sirloin steak, and Wynonna is eating a double bacon cheeseburger.
"You've distracted me today, Wynonna, I know that was your motive for today's activities," Charlie claims. "And Nona, sweetheart, I truly appreciate it. Bella... she said what Renee said when she had left me, too. It hurt more than Bella thinks."
"Of course it does," Wynonna replies as the kids eat. "What're you gonna do when/if she comes back?"
"I'm definitely grounding her," Charlie replies, and he takes another bite.
Nona sees Rosalie motioning for her to come. She nods and looks at Charlie. "Can you watch the kids? I have a ride waiting outside," she says as Emmett's Jeep pulls up. "You can drive my car..."
"Yeah, yeah, I got them," Charlie replies. "Where are you going?"
"I'm going to go get Bella," Wynonna replies.
"Thank you," Charlie breathes. "I've got them. You go."
Wynonna goes outside and when she sees Charlie not looking, she swings through the trees with Rosalie running right under her. Same as Edward, and now Emmett.
Edward is in the lead, since he's the fastest. Emmett and Rosalie aren't too far behind him as Nona swings above head, they're chasing after James. Rosalie tears the shirt she's wearing as Edward stops, trying to catch James' thoughts. Rosalie leaves the shirt piece on a flowering maple tree and she glances up at Wynonna, who is handing onto the side of a tree.
