Over the first month the Cullens were gone, Wynonna kept raising her kids and kept a smile on her face. At the beginning of October and throughout the weeks, she's been putting pink highlights in her hair and keeps it in. She bought herself a bunch of hair dye and having Sue do it.
Today is October 31st, and that day has two meanings. Nigel is officially seven years old, and it's Halloween. Nigel and Wyn's favorite holiday. Nigel loves trick-or-treating. Wyn is bringing Nigel and Eliza trick-or-treating going with Leah Clearwater, Nona's new best friend.
Over the month, Wyn has grown pretty close to Leah. She had gotten her heart broken by Sam Uley a while back. He broke up with her and got with her cousin, Emily Young. It's sad how he did it, but Leah is trying to keep her head up. Especially when the kids are over with Wyn or over for her mom to babysit.
Leah also knows about Wynonna's ability to shoot webs, her extra speed she got, and her super hearing. She has a vampire's hearing, but she didn't mention vampires when she explained it. But her speed... It's not vampire fast, but it's way faster than yours average human. Charlie also now knows about Wyn's abilities.
Wynonna and Leah are at the rez park now, getting it decorated for Nigel's birthday party. She's invited her uncle and cousin, the Clearwater's, Billy and Jacob, and Leah said they should invite someone she knows... Jared Cameron and his girlfriend, Kim Conweller.
Though Wynonna doesn't know Jared or Kim, she is trusting Leah's brain and told her to invite them. Leah said Jared might've started hanging out with Sam's gang, he's the nicest one out of them all. That's the reason Wyn accepted Leah's offer to invite him, that and she trusts Leah's word.
"I can't believe Nigel's seven already," Wynonna mutters as she hangs a lit pumpkin. "God, it's like yesterday he was born."
"Yeah, they grow up fast," Leah agrees as they finally stop. "Where are you getting his cake?"
"Port Angeles," Wynonna replies. "I still need to get him a present. I'll see you at your house when I pick the kids up?"
"Yep, see you there, Nona," Leah says and the girls walk in opposite directions. ******5
Wynonna goes to the store first and gets Nigel a stuffed scientist doll. He dreams of becoming a scientist like their dad, Adam. Nona thinks it's sweet he wants to follow in Adam's footsteps.
She goes to the bakery on the square next. She got him a sonic the hedgehog cake with some frosting circles with his name, a letter in each circle. Nigel has a slight obsession with sonic.

She heads straight to the Clearwater's and gets the kids. Everyone but Sue and Seth are at the park. They follow after Wyn when they all leave for the rez park. Leah jogs over and she gets the cake before bringing it to the picnic tables.
"Hey, birthday boy!" Charlie boasts as Nigel runs over and hugs him. "How old are ya now?"
"Seven!" Nigel exclaims. "Where's cousin Bella?"
"Bella didn't come?" Wynonna asks softly as she walks over. "Wow, that's low."
Wynonna then walks to the gift table and lays her present with the others when a tan guy and a pretty girl approach her.
"I'm Jared, and this is Kim," he says.
"Oh, you're Jared?" Wynonna replies as she faces the couple. "I'm Wynonna Ryder."
Wyn notices Leah tense from where she's sitting and Nona follows her friend's eyes. Sam Uley. He is walking over to the present table with a woman with scars and a mean looking guy, the woman is holding a present wrapped in cartoon cowboy paper.
"I'm Emily," she coos. "I heard about the birthday, and..."
"Your Leah's cousin?" Wynonna asks, and Emily nods. "Then you can leave the present and leave. You and your man broke my best friend's heart."
"They don't have to leave," the mean guy says.
"Nigel's my son, so I have every say," Wynonna growls and the guy raises an eyebrow, she looks at Emily. "It's lovely to meet you, but you guys hurt Leah."
Emily sighs and she lays the present down. "What if we don't go near Leah?"
Qw it hurts her?"
Sam glares into Wynonna's eyes. Harry and Billy are watching in concern, Charlie looks proud and not surprised. When it comes to her kids, family, or friends; Wynonna doesn't care who she's talking to or what type of person they are, she will always defend them. No matter the danger it could cost.
"Should we step in?" Harry asks.
"No," Charlie replies. "She's got this. Wyn can handle herself. Trust me."
Sam takes a threatening step forward as Emily looks down. "Watch your tone when you're talking to me."
"You don't frighten me," Wynonna says. "I've been again way worse people, and won. So, either you two..." she looks at the mean looking one and back to sam. "Three. You three can leave, or you'll see just how much fun I can be. But I'd rather you else because today is my son's seventh birthday, and I'd rather not ruin it."
Sam looks over at the brithday boy, he's running around with Emily's niece Claire, Sue's niece came with Claire. Wyn accepted the offer to invite more Clearwater's. He watches the boy smile and play and he runs over to Wyn.
"Mom! When are we eating cake!?" He asks excitedly.
"Soon, Nigel," Wynonna replies as she kneels down. "Are you having a good birthday?"
"Yeah!" Nigel replies. "Are you and aunt Leah still taking me and Liza trick or treating?"
"Of course, young sir," Wynonna replies and she sees Seth sitting bored. "Wait here..."
She glares at Sam before she walks over to the fun table. She fills a water balloon and she walks over to her boy. "Go throw this at Seth, make him perk up. He's looking sad because he's bored."
Nigel runs off, leaving Wynonna alone.
"Alright, we'll go," Sam says finally. "I'm sorry we intruded on the birthday party. Emily, Paul, lets go." *******
After trick or-treating that night, Nigel passes out cold that night. He wants to go to Sue's and share his Halloween candy with Seth on the second of November. He's not going tomorrow because it's Wyn's nineteenth birthday. November 1st.
Wyn tucks her kids in and she sits downstairs with Leah. She went to Charlie's and gave Bella a piece of her mind for nailing on Nigel's birthday. Nigel was kind of upset because Bella didn't go.
Wynonna sighs and she leans against Leah's shoulder, they watch movies for a while on the tvd, until they fall asleep.
