Chapter 36

Authors POV

Today Melissa had her first session with a phycologist; she relaxed while Chris took Abby to daycare, meeting up with Caymron and Sally, where they organized their playdate. Chris and Sally decided that Sally would take Abby home, and Melissa and Chris would meet them at Sally's place.

While Chris was there, he talked to an educator to see how Abby was doing and if they could give her a few things to do that are a little harder, so she doesn't get bored.

"Well, we can start her on some spelling and writing the alphabet, her name, basic number activities shapes," the educator suggested.

"That would be great, thank you, she's getting bored," Chris stated.

"Yes, I can see that we will do our best to help Abby be her best self." The educator, and Chris both smiled

Chris returned home to see Melissa on the couch watching some TV, walking up behind her Chris placed his hands on her shoulders frightening her, she did what she knew best, punching him in the face, she looked back to see him on the floor.

"Oh, my god! I am so sorry," Melissa whispered as Chris got up.

"It's ok; I should've come around not from behind," Chris replied, coming around to sit beside Melissa Sharing a kiss.

"How did you go dropping Abby?" Melissa asked Chris.

"Good I saw Sally, she will pick Abby up on Friday, and we, can head over for afternoon tea," Chris explained.

"That's good, and what about her schooling?" Melissa questioned.

"They said they would try to do things with her so she can become her best self." Chris smiled. Melissa nodded. "What's wrong?" Chris worriedly questioned. Melissa sighed, "Do you think we are holding her back?"

Looking at his girlfriend, he pursed his lips into a straight line. "No, I think keeping her where she is, it will help her develop the social skills, and if she's getting boarded, we can always sort something out with the teachers, and give her other stuff to do at home, but if you want my opinion?" He started. Melissa nodded for him to carry on. "I think Abby will realize that it's not about education; it's about enjoying time with friends" Chris smiled, showing his wisdom.

"Yeah, your right; we can always get her some books to do at home and to take to school, so when she finishes her work, Abby can do them and get more brain stimulation." Melissa points out.

"See.. you already have it sorted out. Now, do you need or want anything before your appointment?" Chris asked.

"A back massage would be nice," cheekily smiled. "Sure," Chris replied, helping her turn around to he could massage her back.

The phycologist arrived at their home. Walking in to see Melissa sitting on the couch, Chris offered them beverages, politely declining the phycologist wanted to get straight to work.

"So I have all the information in your file here, what else can you tell me about yourself and what happened?" The older lady asked, wanting to get right into their session.

"We went to high school together, got together, the next thing I knew I fell pregnant, and that's when it started, abusing me though out the pregnancy and after, my parents helped me move out here, hoping that he wouldn't find me, but he did and its been like that ever since having to move and change workplaces." Melissa started feeling tight in the chest.

"Ok, Melissa we are just talking about him, this is a safe place, we need not say his name and if you wish you can call him a dirty or mean word." Allison started, as Melissa felt uneasy by Allison's

Continuing Allison took a deep breath, "I made look rude and mean, but I am hurting for you. I have been through what you and Abby have been through, and that's why I want to help other people who have gone through the pain I endured during a toxic IDV, plus I would like to help you" the phycologist softly smiled. Melissa nodded, taking a breath in.

"Can you tell me why this makes you afraid of men, and noises like shattering glass?" Softly smiling Allison, the phycologist asked.

"it's because he attacks me, and broke things over my head, pushed me down," Melissa spoke, as he had played visions of what he did to her. Alison nodded.

"Do you want to continue telling me? What else did he do to you?" Allison pushed.

"He called me names; he told me I'm pathetic, that I'm not good enough, that I shouldn't even be a mother. I just want the best for Abby, and if that means giving her up, I will." Melissa cried.

"Melissa, you won't be giving her up; your an amazing mother," Allison softly spoke. Their session went on for an hour until their time was up.

"We will stop there; I will go away and think of a few things to help you, if there is anything that hasn't helped you, message me. I, you, Chris, and all the doctors will help you; we are doing the first of many steps." Allison smiled.

"In the meantime," Allison continued, "If you feel tight in the chest, overwhelmed, or you have a thought triggers your feelings, I want you to take a deep breath, count to 10, and release. I would also like you to keep a journal; what you were doing on the days you have panics attacks, the sounds you heard, and so on," Allison explained.

Chris and Melissa nodded. "I will see you next week" Allison smiled handing out her hand, Melissa shook it as did Chris, walking Allison out.

Chris walks back to the couch, where Melissa is now sleeping, he placed a rug over her heading to the dining table to do some work on his new IDONTMIND organization to help men and women beat their mental and stop the stigma and preventing it from been taboo.

Chris's POV

As I read over what I've written, I send it off to one of best friend Edward, to see if he wanted to join me in this fight to stop the stigma in mental health, he immediately wanted to join, so we decided how we can get it out there and how we can ask the therapist to contribute. Edward came up with the idea that we have merchandise and all the profits made go towards Mental Health America, we organized a time where Edward to come over so we can keep working on putting together IDONTMIND.

I turned to hear moaning coming from the couch; I closed my laptop, walking over to Melissa. "How are you feeling.?" I asked, rubbing her shoulders.

"Better, what's the time?" Melissa asked me yawning, trying to sit up, with my help, she sits up. "Its mid-day, would you like lunch?" I ask her. I can; she's resisting. "I will get it for you," I kiss her on the forehead.

"Thank you," she smiles.

We ate our lunch and talked for a little; I told her that Edward would come over during the week so we could talk more about the IDONTMIND campaign; she told me she wanted to get involved. As the mid-afternoon went on, we worked on some exercises her physical therapist sent through to help Melissa get the strength back in her knee again.
