"YOU HAVE TO! It's a sin if you don't do it!" she snarls.
"Okay, I'm going. Cool down. But if anyone asks, it was your idea, not mine," I tell her.
She gives me a light push forward and I find myself in a massive jumble of women. Siyaah throws the bouquet over her shoulder and the crowd urges forward to catch it. Only I hang back.
But it smacks me in the face, before landing in my hands.
Of course. Of all the women here, it just had to end up in my hands.
"Ayyyeee! Nikita, you're gonna make someone happy this year!" Aria says excitedly.
I gasp, "Um, I don't know about that! I'm not really-"
Shoot, everyone’s staring at me. Why did I let Amy talk me into this? Siyaah turns around and sees me holding the flowers.
"Niki, I didn't realize you were gonna go for the bouquet," she says surprisedly.
Yeah.. Me neither.
Amy grins, "Call me superstitious, but is this maybe a sign that you're ready for the big step?"
"Maybe it just means I'm really good at catching," I roll eyes, "You want the bouquet? Feel free to take it. I don't want it."
I try to hand it over to Amy, but she doesn’t take it.
"No way! You caught it, it's yours!" she exclaims.
Siyaah shrugs, "Okay, ladies, I think we've embarassed my friend Nikita enough for the evening. How about we give her a chance to set those down now?"
Bless you, Siyaah.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
The rest of the evening goes by in a blur and before I know it, Chanyeol and Siyaah are headed off to their honeymoon.
"Thank you for coming to our wedding, everyone!" Chanyeol says standing infront of the car, before going in.
"I love you all, now goodnight!" Siyaah waves at the crowd as Chanyeol starts the car. They drive off toward the airport.
Wooh! Congrats to the happy couple. My hardwork paid off, phew.
I'm about to return to the main venue to collect my stuff when I feel a tap on my shoulder. It's Nini again.
"Hello again, Niki. Sorry for running off earlier," he says.
"Apology not accepted. How dare you ditch me to go be a good best man and do your work?" I pout.
He laughs hysterically. More cheerful than I've seen him all evening.
He's adorable.
He crosses his arms and taps his chin, motioning to think something. Then holds his ears laughing again.
"I'm deeply ashamed of my behaviour. I've made a terrible mistake by doing my job as best man. Is there anything I could possibly do to make it up for you?" he pouts.
Gosh, why's he soooo cute?
"Hmm, I'll think. What's the best you can offer?" I ask.
Nini runs his fingers through his hair as though he's thinking. This is a careful dance, and he's all too good at the steps.
"Well..I know a place nearby that I think you might enjoy. So, join me, will you?" he gives me pleading eyes.
I put my best attempt at a knowing smirk and try to play it cool.
"Are you asking me on a date already, Mr. Kim?"
"That's exactly what I'm doing," he says confidently, but I can see him blush.
I'm gonna burst!
I immediately hide my grin and make my face serious, tapping my chin carefully, "Hmm, I think that'll do it nicely. Give me a minute, I'll grab my bag."
A smile flashes across his face as he nods, "I'll call the cab."
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
One short cab ride and a long elevator ride later, he leads me out to the rooftop of what has to be a five-star hotel.
Dang, when he said a place nearby, this was not what I was picturing! I've never been to a place this ritzy in my life!
"Well, this is some lounge. How'd you find it?" I gasp.
"Met someone here for business purposes, fell in love with the place. You know how it is," he says.
"Of course.." I say with an edge on my voice. The closest place I fell in love with before is a crummy chinese takeout place down the street from my college apartment. That's obviously the same thing, right? Riiiight?
I glance at him, "So what sort of business do you have?"
His eyes suddenly gets nervous, "Oh, 9 am to 5 pm with overtime? Yeah, yeah, that."
So, basically he means, I don't want to talk about it.
Fair enough, but if this lounge and his gucci suit gives any signal, this business must be pretty high-class.
Alot more high-class than being a junior accountant like me.
Only if he talked it, I would've checked if they're hiring.
"Now, I believe I promised you a drink," he chuckles.
We take a sit at the bar, and Nini waves over a bartender in a suit that probably costs more than my entire outfit. He places orders.
A short while later, the bartender returns with our glasses. I take a sip.
This is ammaaazzzing!
Nini smiles at me, "Thank you for joining me here, by the way. The wedding was fabulous. But this is far more my scene."
I grin, "Oh yeah? A fancy rooftop lounge is your scene?"
He nods, "Well..yes it is. It's calm, it's private, and it has one of the best views in the entire city."
I frown, "Really?"
He finishes his drink, stands, and offers me his hand.
He smiles, "Really. Let me show you."
I follow him across the rooftop and over to the edge.
"Take a look," he says with a smile. I look around.
Whooaaa, I didn’t realize how high up we were! No wonder why that elevator ride took so damn long.
"It's..mesmerizing. Better than Empire State building," I say gasping.
"Definitely better, but not the view." he says.
I frown, "Then?"
He looks me up and down with a sly smile, "You."
