Kyungsoo gestures for me to follow him and we cross the ballroom. As we go, I'm struck by the decor.

Band posters, fake pyrotechnics, a huge stage in the back, massive speakers..and everything covered in studs.

Wow..

I mean, it's not exactly looking like something that I would've chosen, but it's definitely coming together and suits them as well.

Kyungsoo clears his throat, "Now, if you're done staring, we had a bunch of our decorations come in this morning, and I haven’t had the chance to put them up yet."

He hefts a box up and hands it to me. Inside, there are large cardboard cutouts of electric guitars.

Wow, it does seem very on board!

"I love the idea you’ve came up with! It's sick!" I exclaim.

Kyungsoo smiles and nods, "Music is life."

He dramatically hums what I can only assume to be a guitar riff while we do the work.

"So, Kyungsoo, how did you and Chaeyeon meet?" I ask.

"Oh, it's a little strange actually. We met at a rock concert that I performed in. She legit knew every artist that performed except me. So she bumped on me and asked who I was. I couldn’t believe it. It's weird but that was how everything began. I've been totally head over heels ever since," he says.

Okay, that's officially my most favourite thing ever.

"A love story for the ages," I chuckle, "So do you and Chaeyeon make music together?"

He nods, "For sure, we do. She's featured on some DO & Songs tracks. She has an amazing hand on piano. I can assure she's absolutely the most amazing piano player you'd ever meet. You should listen sometimes."

"Why featured though? Why isn't she an official member of your band?" I ask.

Kyungsoo rolls his eyes, "Oh, man, I've been asking her for this for years! But she always declines saying she's happier just sitting back and watching me sing. I can confirm you that she's my biggest fan ever."

I laugh, "Oh, wow! From I don't know who that is to biggest fan ever. Life has an interesting way of turning things."

He nods, "It sure does."

This wedding planner thing is pretty easy. Sure, this is just tiny day-off stuff. But still, I'm killing it.

The decoration looks pretty...dope, if I say that to myself. I glance over at Kyungsoo to see if he's thinking the same thing too when I notice a frown on his face.

"Kyungsoo? Is anything wrong?" I question as I raise an eyebrow.

"It's just..I just really want everything to go perfect today. Like, it's her special day or to say the most special day of her life and all I want is to make her happy, you know what I mean? Even though the circumstances are totally less than ideal," he blurts.

Less than ideal?

"What do you mean?" I ask with my  eyes wide open.

He's about to respond when Chaeyeon pops up, scaring the crap out of me.

"Niki! I need you!" she practically yells.

Before I can get a word in, she grabs my hand and whisks me away. I guess we're putting the mystery on hold.

She clears her voice, "There were some..last-minute changes during the planning so I haven’t had the time to finish the seating chart. I tried to adjust but I really haven’t had the chance to organize it. This is the best I could do. But, you know, I could really use some advice from experts."

I nod, "Okay, let's see what you’ve got here."

I take a look at the paper and notice the dance floor is very crowded. Also, I really think we can mix up some families to get people talking. With a pen, I edit the chart in order to spread out a few tables and move around a few names on the chart and reorganize, before turning the page back to Chaeyeon.

"If you set it up like this, it'll open up the dance floor a ton. That way people can get their groove on easier," I say.

She nods, "Ooh I like that, that'd definitely work."

I grin, "Now your guests will be free to dance as badly as they want to without fear of knocking over any champagne glasses."

And by your guests, I mean mostly me.

She nods, "That's a brilliant measurement. Seriously, I didn’t think of that at all!"

I chuckle, "That's what I'm here for, to think stuff that no one thinks."

I turn to the page again, "And look over here, if you mix your two families up a little, it'll make the seating less crowded and encourage them to talk. Half of the fun of weddings is getting your families together and making one super big family. I think, this is the perfect way to get everyone introduced."

Either that, or they all kill each other in the first five minutes. Depends on the family, I guess.

She claps in excitement, "Oh, I love that! I'm so excited for my family to meet Kyungsoo's. I really appreciate the help, Niki. You’ve already been a lifesaver!"

Did she just call me a lifesaver? More and more, I'm feeling like this was the right career move for me.

As soon as the thought gets in my head, Chaeyeon takes the seating chart and frowns.

Uh oh.

"It's all coming together.." she says.

I put a hand on her shoulders, "Chaeyeon, I don't mean to be intrusive but..is everything okay? I don't like to see my brides frowning."

Chaeyeon looks like she's about to cry. Quick, Niki, damage control.

"Do you want to talk outside in the hall?" I whisper to her.

"Please.." she mumbles.

Say no more, Chaeyeon.

✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

It's quiter here in the hall and ripe for a heart to heart conversation.

She takes a deep breath and tries hard to regain her composure to speak.

"So?" I raise an eyebrow.
