For the next few hours, Piyuu, Luhan and I go through suit after suit. And there are actually some nice ones, but nothing Luhan wants to say..ahem.."I do" to.
Soon, it's 11 pm so we need to go back home.
"Sorry, we didn't find anything you loved today. I know you've to get going now. But I think, we're close to the suit of your dream wedding. We'll find it soon," Piyuu says with sad eyes.
"Thanks for all your hard work, Piyuu. I'll keep thinking about the styles," Luhan waves and leaves the shop. Next to me, Piyuu nearly falls over in relief.
"I'm starving! Are you free tonight?" Piyuu asks me.
"Wait..this isn't about another wedding that needs a last-minute planner or is it?" I question.
"Oh, no no! It's just my favourite restaurant is just down the street from here," she says.
"So you want to go together, then?" I ask.
"Oh, yes! I mean, as a thank you treat for saving Chaeyeon's wedding, you know? Let's get to know each other better and also you can try out some unique cuisines" she mumbles.
"Hmph, that does sound like fun! Sure, I'm down for that!" I say.
"Really? You'd go with me?" she says.
"Of course! Did you thought I was gonna say no to food?" I chuckle.
"I don't know what I thought, but I'm really glad that you said yes! Give me like, two minutes? I'll close up the shop and stuff and then we're both ready to go," she says. I nod and sit on a chair as she prepares to go.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
A few minutes later, Piyuu and I arrive at "Nondon's House of Burgers." Nice name. Very touristy.
"Wow, this place smells amazing!" I say.
"Doesn't it? Once, when I was having a bad day, I just stuck my nose in here to get a smell. It cheered me up right away!" she says excitedly.
"Oh wow. That...sounds pretty fun," I say.
I've heard of people doing it at coffee shops. But for the first time ever, I've heard of someone for a burger joint.
We both take seats, but the place is swamped. We're probably gonna be here for a while I guess.
"So, Niki, how long have you been in the wedding planning business?" she asks.
"Fifty four hours and-"
I check my watch and glance over her again.
"Fourteen minutes."
"Hang on, WHAT?" her eyes in disbelief.
"Yup, you heard me right. Fifty four hours and fourteen minutes ago, I was junior accountant Nikita Khan," I toss my hair.
"Oh my goodness, I swear I would've never guessed. You seemed so professional!" she says.
Really? Guess my Fake It Till You Make It approach is working better than I thought it would.
"That's a huge switch. Why wedding planning of all things?" she asks with curious eyes.
"Honestly? It's mostly because Luhan and Aria offered me the job and it seemed like it'd be a lot of fun to do," I tell her.
"Really? That's the reason?" she asks surprisedly.
"Well, at least the main reason, anyway. I planned a mutual friend's wedding because I was her maid of honour. And they liked it so much that they suggested me to do it professionally and promised that they'd pay me if I do. And coincidentally I lost my job the next day so I called Luhan up because why not?" I say.
"You lost your job the very next day?" surprise in Piyuu's voice.
Don't remind me, Piyuu. Don't. Remind. Me.
"Wow, that's incredible! It seems like you were destined for this! Also, isn't it just amazing how the kinds of job people end up falling into?" she exclaims.
"Absolutely. And so it reminds, what about you, Piyuu? Did you also find your destiny within dress designing?"
"Me? I've never thought I'll become a dress designer. That's a bad fortune you could say. I was desperately in need of a job but no matter how much I searched I didn't find a job. So my sister told me to stop searching because I'll keep screwing it up," she says very um..enthusiasticly?
"Uh, well..that wasn't very nice of her to say?" I say confusedly on why she's so happy about being called a sucker. I guess I've derived on a whole new level of weird world.
"I thought so too. But, that actually was very helpful. I was so furious on her that I decided to backstab her. My sister is a huge fashion freak. She's got tons of cloth-making equipments and an amazing sense of fashion. So one day, I went to her room, stole her equipments and ideas and started my business. Now, here I am!" she says excitedly.
Well, that's..weirder than I ever could've dreamt it to be.
"Niki? Are you alright?" she asks worriedly.
"Ah, yes. That's pretty interesting, Piyuu. I'm..happy for you that now you finally have a job," I say.
"Thank you so much!" she replies.
"Hey, ladies! Sorry for the wait. Here are your menus," the waiter arrives.
I take one of the menus and start to skim it. We flag the waitress down and she takes our orders and walks away.
"I still can't believe that I got you your second wedding job," Piyuu exclaims.
"Well, technically not the second one. I've been doing it for long but yeah second time that I'm doing it for money, as a profession. And well, since you've been around the block for much longer than me, you must've got some insider knowledge," I say.
"Well, I don't know if I do. But I can try to help you out. Tell me, what do you want to know?" she asks.
"Can you tell me about the weirdest wedding that you've been ever involved with?"
Starting off with the basics. Yeah, of course that's basic. Everything and everyone is really weird on this wedding world.
