"C'mere, buddy!" he whispers softly and darts forward, scooping Samin up around the middle and hauling him over his shoulder like the kid's a sack of potatoes.
"Get him out!" Atif growls.
"Relax, man. It's handled," Nini says with a calm voice.
The two of us hightail it out of there, Samin in tow. Behind us, the wedding march resumes again.
"And stay gone!" Sara scowls with her high-pitched tone, the most annoying one.
I don't look back. I think I'm closing that chapter of my life for good.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
After getting in enough distant, where Atif and Sara is out of my view, I let out a sigh of relief.
"Oh my god, Nini. You just saved my life!" I mutter.
"Am I in trouble?" Samin mumbles, terrified as he glances at me. Ha, why weren’t you reacting the same back there? But he's a child afterall. I shouldn’t have made him so scared.
Noticing the rapid trembling of Samin, Nini kneels down and pats his shoulder, "No, darling. You're not in any trouble. I didn't mean to interrupt you back there, but I've got a really important job for you and you're the only one who can do it. So, you see, I'm helpless and I really need your help, okay?" Nini poses a sad face.
"Are you sad?" Samin gasps, "Don't be SAD! I'll help you."
Who knew Nini was so good with Kids?
"Are you ready to hear what your special, secret, big boy mission is?" Nini stares at him with sparkling eyes.
"Yes!" Samin jumps in excitement. Nini whispers something in his ears. So I guess I'm not allowed to know what this special, secret, big boy mission is. It must be really classified.
"Yay! I can do that, Jongin uncle! Bye!" Samin responds immediately.
And just like that, Samin races off to the shower. How the hell did he do that so fast? What's this guy? Some kind of kid-calming wizard?
"Am I allowed to know what you said to him? What magic spell was that?" I gasp.
"I just told him to get his mother a cookie," he shrugs.
"Really?" I cross my arms "As simple as that? Then why'd he not even look back when I applied so many technics on him? Do I look like a witch that children has to ignore me and like you?"
Nini scoffs, "I told him that he had a critical mission to bring his mother a cookie and that he had to do it right away. You don’t need to say something too technical. It's not about what you say, it's about how you say. Kids like to feel important."
"Wow. You're really good with kid psychology, huh? And thank you so much for the save. That literally could've been a whole disaster!" I sigh.
I can create horrible mental images of Samin tearing Sara's dress, or stealing her veil, or maybe even peeing in the aisle..and Sara's screams echoing all over the tri-state area.
Nini nods, "Yes. It definitely could've been. But it wasn’t."
"Thanks to you!" I chuckle.
"Indeed.." Nini looks up to meet my eyes, "But in any rate, I'll have you know that I didn't do it for you. I did it for Aria."
Huh? I guess I should've seen that coming.
"Today's her day, and she doesn’t need some huge, unrelated catastrophe messing it up," he rolls his eyes.
"True enough," I nod, "But I appreciate the help, regardless."
He nods in response, "We should get back to the bridal shower."
Oh, right. The bridal shower. I hope everything's going okay in my absence.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Wen we get back to the room, everything's pretty much wrapping up. People are saying their goodbyes, presents are being packed up.
"Thank you for coming, bye!" I eye over and see Aria biding Ripa eonnie. And dare I say, I'm so fucking relieved to see Ripa eonnie corralling Samin out the door. She has a cookie in her free hand.
"Come on, Samin!" she groans.
"I did it, Jongin uncle! I passed the mission just like you told me to!" Samin exclaims ever so excitedly glancing at Nini. Nini leans down to fist bump him which is cuter than it has any right to be.
"Nice job, bud!" Nini smiles. Samin leans forward to hug Nini. Aww.
"Everything going okay?" Piyuu emerges next to me.
"Yeah, there were some minor mishap. But it's all handled now," I smile at her.
"Well, the bridal shower was beautiful.. But I think I'm going to head out now," she looks up to see Nini, "It was nice to see you again, Jongin. And Aria."
"..And Luhan," Luhan's voice appears in the doorway as he steps in just as the last guests head out. I forgot that he said he was going to check in, oops.
"Oh, hello Luhan! Yes, nice to see you too," Piyuu responds.
"Always a pleasure, Piyuu!" Luhan smiles.
"I didn't know you were coming? I was just heading out-"
"Yes, sure!" Luhan moves from the doorway, "Have a nice day and thanks for coming!" Piyuu smiles and soon leaves the room.
Is it bad that I'm glad everyone’s gone? Now it's just me, Nini, Aria and Luhan.
Luhan walks towards Aria, gently stretching his arms around her, "How was the bridal shower? Everything you hoped for?"
"Oh my gosh, yes! This was the best bridal shower EVER!" Aria exclaims.
Nini nods, "I've to agree. It's certainly different then what I would've done, but Niki did an amazing job."
Don't grin like an idiot, Niki. Don't grin like an idiot.
"It really was amazing, Niki," Aria assures.
Nini glances at me "I think we can agree that what happened at the dress shop was.. unforunate."
Hmph, thanks for sugar-coating it, Nini.
"But what Niki's ex did was inexcusable," he lets out a dangerous growl at the last word and I can feel his body tensing up in anger.
