"Flip it or sip it is always a good one," she whispers and stirs the pot. Then she fishes a coin out of her pocket and puts it on the encounter between us.
I look at her questioningly, making it obvious that I've no clue how to play this thing. Thank goodness, she understands my gaze and explains it to me.
"So one person flips the coin, and tries to call what side they think it's going to land on. If they get it right, they ask the other person one question-"
"-and if they get it wrong, they've to drink?" I ask.
"Exactly!" she exclaims.
She pushes the coin toward me, which might've been vaguely sinister if she weren’t smiling.
"Since you're curious, you can go first," she grins.
Come on, lucky coin! Niki wants some exciting secrets!
Um, I'mma call heads.
The coin falls to the countertop. What is it, what is it?!
It's heads.
"Hey! I got it right!" I yell.
"Alright, ask me anything miss," she laughs.
"Okay..so tell me, what do you look for in a romantic partner?" I wiggle my eyebrows suggestively. I've known she's kinda whipped for Sehun.
If I didn't know better, I would've said she's avoiding my eyes for this one. And..is she blushing?
"I think my ideal romantic turn partner would be someone who's driven, someone who isn’t afraid to chase their dreams, someone who doesn’t try to fit in for anyone’s liking and is confident with what they are," she whispers.
I smirk, "..and someone like Sehun, huh?"
Her eyes suddenly widens up, "This is why you asked it? You play dirty!"
I scoff, "I've had a while to think about it."
Alright Piyuu, your turn to test lady luck. She flips the coin.
"Tails.." she says.
The coin hits the counter. Ha! Heads.
"Too bad, so sad," I laugh.
"Yeah, yeah, laugh it all up while you can," she rolls eyes and takes a sip calmly.
When I get the coin back, I'm feeling pretty confident. I give it a flip.
I'm calling tails this time.
Ugh, I should've known not to get too cocky. Bottoms up, I guess.
"It's heads! Back to me, then. Sip, sip!" Piyuu exclaims.
I take a sip and pass it to Piyuu. She flips it next and this time she gets it right.
"Hit me with your best shot!" I smirk.
"Okay, okay. Tell me three things you loved the most about being an wedding planner so far?" she asks.
"Well, the first one definitely has to be not working in finance anymore. And not having to deal with my crappy boss. Leaving thst garbage behind is for sure the best part so far," I say.
"Well, it's a good thing that you got out when you did. You're so obviously a lot happier now than you were there," she says.
"Absolutely, but how'd you know?" I ask.
"Ah, I'm pretty good at knowing this type of stuff," she laughs.
I nod, "I can see thsat. So, the second one is getting to meet new people. I've loved getting to know Aria and Luhan. Also, weirdly, there's something I like about that Kim Jongin too-"
"I'm listening.." she smirks.
"What? There's nothing to listen about here. What I meant to say is I really like meeting new couples and making their special day great. I met a bunch of interesting people and Nini's also one of them. Even though I absolutely hated him at first, but I- guess I hate him a little less now?" I say.
Piyuu grins, "You sure do make a great pair."
I shrug, "Oh, please. I think I can get back to I absolutely hate him mode tomorrow if he's acting like a jerk again."
Piyuu palms her head, "Ah, niki, the savage you are. Now tell me the third one?"
"Hmm, I'd say hanging out with you," I say.
Her eyes widens up, "Really?"
"It's honestly been so nice being able to connect with you. Having you throughout all of this has been significantly amazing," I whisper.
Piyuu flushes a litttle and gives me an endearing, crooked smile.
"Oh, yeah?" she grins.
"You're pretty nice company yourself, you know?" I shrug.
"I'm glad. I've really enjoyed spending more time with you, Niki. And I hope we don’t plan on stopping anytime soon," she smiles.
"I don't!" I assure her.
Whatever Piyuu has concocted smells incredible. Bring it over here before I eat my own arm, girl!
Woah, pasta!
And here I was just gonna warm up frozen rice and chicken tonight. This is definitely a very good upgrade!
"Piyuu, this looks so good!" I exclaim.
"I bet it does. Come, have a seat," she winks.
I take a bite and almost pass out. It's that good. It's spicy and savory and I think I'm in heaven.
"I think I've to propose this pasta and then plan my wedding with it. It's the only option," I laugh.
"So long as I'm invited," she shrugs.
"Of course, you're the one who introduced us. You must make a speech," I say.
Piyuu's quiet for a moment after her laughter fades. She swirls her fork in her massive bowl of pasta and then looks up at me.
"Thank you, Niki," she says.
"For what? I'm the one who should be thanking you, not the other way around!" I say in surprise.
"You've inspired me. It's really cool to watch you follow your dreams, no matter how scary or overwhelming it is. I think that it’s really admirable and people should notice it more often than they do. You should start to appreciate yourself more than you do," she sighs, "Now that I'm finally out here and working, I've started to realize that this job isn’t everything that I hoped it'd be."
"I thought you liked being a dressmaker?" I ask.
"I also thought so. But I'm having second thoughts about it these days," she breathes.
