"Don't be embarrassed. You're completely right on all accounts!" I smile.
"That feels so great to hear from you!" she exclaims.
I nod, "Can you call me tomorrow so we can schedule a meeting to hammer out the details?"
"Yes, please!" she jumps on her feet in excitement.
"Perfect!" I frown, "I'd love to do it now, but I'm supposed to be helping out with that wedding shower so-"
She stops me before I can finish, "Of course! And I should head back to home too. After dealing with Sara, I'm going to need a me day, or maybe five."
And, at that moment, a flash of genius strikes me.
"Sure, Piyuu, you could go home. Or you could follow me over to the dining room and enjoy a super fun amazing bridal shower planned by yours truly!" I wink.
"Oh my gosh, really? I've been dying to see what your parties are like..and that might be just what I need right now!"
"Well.." I cross my arms with a smile, "In that case, now's the most perfect chance, isn’t it? Now, come on!"
She nods simultaneously, "Yes, please, let's.." suddenly she freezes "Hold on, wouldn’t that be considered crashing the party?"
I face palm, "It's not crashing, Piyuu. I literally just invited you! And I know for a fact that Aria will be like The More The Merrier."
She nods in understanding but the frown hasn’t left her expression yet, "Are you sure, though? I'd love to go, but I don't want to add any sort of extra stress for you."
"Of course I'm sure! You're so very welcome to the party!" I grab her wrist, "Come on, let's go talk to Aria!"
She opens her mouth and I know she's going to interrupt with some bullshit again so I just grab her along with me inside our section of the restaurant.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Not even a second later that we're in, Aria emerges right infront of me with her signature million dollars smile.
"Niki! There you are! I was scared that you were gonna miss out the desserts!" she's just speaking but feeling the excitement on her voice, you won't think so.
I shake my head, "Niki never misses out chocolates, honey!" I laugh, "I'm sorry for the delay, though. I ended up getting called away for a minute, and..I actually have someone here to talk to you!"
I point toward the door, where Piyuu's standing shyly. I couldn’t convince her to actually come in with me. But in the other hand, Aria, of course, runs over and squeezes her in a tight hug.
"Piyuu! What a surprise! Come on, join the party!" she yells. Now, that's some real people-savvy going on here. She needn't be that excited.
And then there's Piyuu, who begins squealing to death, "Wait, what? You're gonna invite me in the party just like that? No questions? No objections?"
Goodness me, someone help this girl.
"Um, yeah?" Aria's so dumbfounded but at the same time, I can't even laugh about it because I feel her pain on the note. Piyuu's still on her surprised pikachu face.
"I told you so, Piyuu," I shrug.
"Here.." Aria takes a bowl from one of the tables and holds it for Piyuu, "Have a macaroon. They're to die for!"
"Why're you so nice?" Piyuu gasps, and not a normal gasp. A gasp that makes you feel like aliens came down on earth.
"Why not?!" Aria shrugs, "Besides, I like you, Piyuu. And I love your dresses."
At that point, I begin to think Piyuu's going to get a heart-attack and die, and a dead body won't be the kind of special edition I'd prefer on the party.
I lean down and whisper on Aria's ears, "I think she needs to sit down."
"By all means!" she turns to Piyuu with a smile, "Enjoy the party well!"
We each take a plate of desserts from the buffet (Nice choice, me!) and get seats at a table off to the side.
"These decorations are beautiful, Niki!" Piyuu exclaims, observing all the details, "Specially the origami flowers!"
I smile, "Thanks, I really needed to get this right!"
Piyuu picks up one of the blank notecards I've put on the table.
"So, what are these for?" she frowns.
"Oh, those? The guests are supposed to write down an idea for a dream date. Then we'll put them in a box for Aria and Luhan to take out when they need an idea for something to do," I tell her.
"I see.." she nods, "So, have you filled one out yet?"
I shake my head, "Umm..nope. How about we both do it now?"
We each take a pen and write down our ideas. Piyuu'd barely takes a second. I guess she's thought about this. But that makes me wonder, exactly how many things have she thought about in her life? And why I never think about anything? Am I dumb or am I dumb?
"Niki?" her voice brings me out of my thoughts.
"Yes.." I whisper, "You're done?" She nods simultaneously.
"What does it say, then?" I ask.
She holds up a card to reveal a single word Karaoke.
"Karaoke? Seriously?" I ask, surprised.
"Yeah, why not? It's supposed to be a dream date, right?" she frowns.
"Don't you think it's a little too cliche?" I question.
"Of course, I do. It absolutely is cliche. And that's why I've put it. It's easy to get so caught up in novelty sometimes that you forget to appreciate the simple things.." she responds. Aw, sweet.
"Good point. Sometimes three ruffles are better than five. And of course, it's not about where you are. It's about who're you with," I say.
"Exactly," she looks down at the note in my hand, "And what does yours say?"
"Piyuu, believe it or not, I've put Karaoke too," I whisper.
"You really did?" she exclaims.
I hold up my card that says, Karaoke.
