"But what Niki's ex did was inexcusable," he lets out a dangerous growl at the last word and I can feel his body tensing up in anger.
Wow, I didn't expect it from you, Nini.
"So I think she deserves the benefit of the doubt, and your forgiveness. I think you should continue on with her as your wedding planner," he says.
I nod, "Yes, please, this job's really important to me. I'll work on controlling my temper. I know it's a flaw of mine, and that it's gotten me into plenty of trouble. But, I promise, if you take me back, I'll work on it and never let it get back in the way of my job again. I promise to not let anything in the world get in the way of your dream wedding. From now on, no more mishaps! Everything's going to go according to the plans. It's just going to be about you two, and your wedding. That's it. I really enjoyed working with the two of you so far, and I honestly feel like I can do this and give you the best wedding ever! Just give me another chance to prove it to you?"
Aria and Luhan share a glance. God, I really don't know if they're going to go for this. And what the heck am I going to do if they don't?
"What do you say?" Nini wiggles his eyebrows.
"We say of course you can stay on!" Aria pulls me in a hug. Phewwwww.
Luhan turns to me "If you're serious about this new direction, we'd be really happy to have you. You're a good person, Niki, and we definitely want to continue working with you!"
I'm so fucking happy that I just want to run out into the street and scream for joy, but because I'm a very professional person, I refrain. But this is just such a happy occasion. Even Nini is smiling!
"Thank you so much, you guys! I promise I won't let you down!" I scream at the top of my lungs.
"Great! Now as your first order of business as our reinstated wedding planner, I'd need you to help me pack up these gifts," Aria points at pile of gifts that she just opened.
I smile, "Trust me, nothing would make me happier!"
Except, when you give me the paycheck, of course.
I follow Aria over to the piles of gift. Dang, they got some real good stuff!
"Here, just stuff everything up in these boxes. I can lug them out to the car later," Aria says.
I nod. I was expecting her to turn around and walk away like she's supposed to but she doesn’t.
A pause.
Then she scoots closer to me, "So..are you alright? How are you feeling about..everything with your ex? It must be really hard to watch him get married to someone else."
Don't. Bring. That. Fucking. Shit. Up. Again.
"I don't think I'll ever forgive him.." I sigh, "I just want them both out of my life. I'm mad, and I'm gonna stay mad for three months. But if Atif marrying Sara means I'll never have to see him again, then it works out."
Aria frowns, "Okay, I get everything else but why three months? It's very specific."
"Because they're getting divorced in three months," I roll my eyes.
Aria gasps, "Niki, tell me you didn't-" she gasps again and presses her mouth to stop.
"Nope. No conspiracy involved. I'm not Sara. It's just that this love story right here? It isn’t a fairytale romance. These two started on lies and they'll probably end on lies too. Both of them are terrible, and they're going to figure it out pretty soon if they haven’t already," I groan.
Aria nods, "But on the positive side, you finally have a closure, right?"
Oh Aria, you can find positivity in everything, huh?
I smile, "You're right. That chapter of my life's finally over. And I never want to think about it again. If they even manage to last this marriage, at least knowing that they're married and will be out of my hair forever makes me feel like I can finally move on."
"Well, for what it's worth, I'm happy for you and proud of you. You're a very strong person and I really hope you can move on, it's healthy," she squeezes my shoulder, "If I'd stayed hung up on my ex, I'd never find Luhan, and I'd never realize he's the one for me. Now, is when you finally can find your perfect match too."
Perfect match? For a matchmaker? Uh, it's like the perfect dinner for a chef, a thing that doesn’t exist. But it's sweet of you to think about me.
"Thank you so much, Aria. I hope one day I'll be as happy as you and Luhan are!" I exclaim, although I've very little hope for that.
"I'm pretty sure that you will!" Aria smiles brightly.
We finish packing up the gifts in record time and soon, everything else is squared away. I'm thanking the waiter staffs just before I head out, when Nini approaches me. I look up to face him and I don't know if it's just my imagination or he shivers a bit when I look at him.
He clears his throat, one thing for sure, he's nervous as fuck.
"You want to say something?" I whisper.
"Uhm, yes. You..live near Siyaah and Chanyeol's place, right?" he's sweating as he asks.
Um, what? That's kinda suspicious.
"Yes? But why? Why are you suddenly asking that?" I frown.
He crosses his arms, "Because I'm headed to that direction and I thought that I'd offer..to walk you home," not a second later that he's done saying it, he covers his face. Is he nervous?
I frown, "Oh really? Why? What's the catch?"
"Believe it or not, but I actually don't hate you. And I feel like a walk.." he whispers.
