He takes a deep breath, inhaling and exhaling, then begins from the start again, "What I meant to say was, we're gathered here today to celebrate the most special day coming on the way of an incredible woman. Okay, in a way, one incredible woman and one incredible man. But for the moment, allow me to focus on my sister, Aria."
Cheers erupt all around from the audience.
"Aria, of all the people I've ever met, I don't think any have ever been able to find the beauty in the world the way that you do. Where the world sees thorns, you see a flower. Where the world sees a wall, you see a colorful canvas. If a hundred people sent me unsigned birthday cards, or decorated cupcakes. Or, heck, folded laundry, I'd be able to tell which one's sent by her every time. While everyone else in the world is preoccupied with the right way or the easy way, she's always able to find an Aria way.
I knew a woman like you only deserved the best in a partner, and, I must say, Luhan's well delivered. Even someone like me can see the love that the two of you share, and more than that, what a perfect team you make."
I can see Aria glancing all puppy eyed at her brother. Aww, she likes it, doesn’t she?
"May we all find such a love someday!"
Did he just look at my way when he said that? Nah, I'm probably just imagining things once again.
"I promise I won't keep you waiting much longer, but before we drink, I'd just like to say, thank you sissy. Thank you for all the joy you've brought to all of our lives. You taught me there's always potential for good in the world than it meets our eyes, we just need to take time to look for it. Today, marriage brings us together. So treasure your love, sis. May you and Luhan have many, many years of happiness. Congratulations on your new beginning!" He raises his glass "To Aria and Luhan!"
"To Aria and Luhan!" I shout out with everyone else in the room. Everyone clinks their glasses and I take a sip. My first sip of something delightful all day and I must admit that it was worth the wait.
"Nice work today, wedding planner!" Ripa eonnie emerges next to me and clinks her glass with mine.
"Thank you so much, Ripa eonnie. I'm so glad that you and your son could be a part of this event."
No sooner had I finished my sentence, I begin to tremble.
Where the fuck is Samin?
I remember he was with Ripa eonnie while Aria was opening presents. I search frantically around the room and finally find him..but in the worst way possible.
He was stumbling toward the banquet hall when I hear a sound of a string quartet.
No way. No. Fucking. Way.
"I need to go. I'll be right back just in a minute, promise!" I blurt out and Piyuu subtly whispers in my ear. "I saw the kid run-off. Don't worry, I can cover up for you!"
I sigh, "Thank you a ton, Piyuu. I owe you everything."
She giggles, "It's the least I could do after you got me invited to this party."
"But can I get a hug first?" I hiss.
"Oh! Of course!" She gives me a quick hug, with a grip that's surprisingly tight for how tiny she is.
"Now go, save the day!" she hisses out and gives me a gentle push forward.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Sure enough, when I peek into the banquet hall, I see Sara walking down the aisle...with Samin following the train of her dress.
"Oooo!" he gasps, looking at her dress like it's one of the seven wonders of the world.
Oh goddamit, Samin!
Desperate times call for desperate measures. I open the door as quietly as I can and try bribing him with a macaroon.
I quickly grab a macaroon from a tray sitting at the back of the room, crouch over and whisper, "Samin! Buddy! Look, I've got a cookie here for you!"
Samin turns his head, looks pointedly at the macaroon, and then back at me.
"That's right! Yummy yum! You want a cookie, don't you?" I whisper as low as I can. He frowns, thinking deeply again, then turns around and starts chasing after Sara's dress again.
"SAMIN NO!" I yell, yes, I yell. I say that way louder than I should've. Loud enough for everyone in the room to hear. Holy fucking crap.
"You again!" Sara scowls.
"Niki! I fucking told you to stay. the. fuck. away. from. my. wedding!" Atif growls in a dangerous tone.
I glance up and see Atif and Sara shooting literal, I mean, maybe not exactly literal, daggers at me.
I'm doomed.
My life's ending and I'm watching it happen in slow motion. There's no fucking thing I can do about it.
"Preettttyyyy!" Samin yells excitedly. Gosh, is this toddler really crashing my ex's wedding?
"Samin! I'll give you all the cookies you want, and cakes..and, and mobile games, my all properties! My fucking life, goddammit, listen me out!"
For some reason, this son of a motherfucking bitch finds Sara's wedding dress more fun than all the things I offered.
"You're in big trouble, Samin! Get over here!" I yell. I didn't want to come out this way, but I don't have any clue on what to do now.
But this attempt also goes on vain. He ignores me and I've to watch in slow motion as he sprints for Sara's dress.
This is it. This is the end.
Oh, god..
But then, and this isn’t an exaggeration, Nini suddenly appears beside me, seemingly out of thin air.
"Come here, buddy!" he whispers softly and darts forward, scooping Samin up around the middle and hauling him over his shoulder like the kid's a sack of potatoes.
