I needed to see Jonah again, at least one last time

Daniel and I had left the hospital yesterday, I was currently in my car, not knowing where to go, the only person in mind was Jonah

So I called him

Hello? Emery?

Hey Jonah... I just needed to ask you something... Are you busy?

No, I'm not, what do you need?

Can we meet up? Just for a while?

Yeah, definitely... Where would you like to meet?

Where we first met, at the park near the high school

I'll be waiting for you then

Alright

I sigh and start the drive to the park

Time skip

As I got there, I saw Jonah sitting on a swing

I got out of my car and slowly walked up to him

Once he saw me, he stood up and patiently waited for me to be right in front of him

"Hey Jonah" I mumbled as I reached him

"Emery, hello" He awkwardly said

It was silent, the night was cold, and there was nobody around, except for us

"You wanna go see if the carving is still on the tree?" He asked me

I nodded

When we were in high school and we came to this park, we would always lay against a specific tree and talk about our feelings, we ended up carving our initials on it, to remember our friendship

As we got closer, my heart beat faster, The tears were threatening to fall, but I kept it in, just for once, for the last time, I wanted to be happy with Jonah

We reached the tree and look around until I saw it

I stopped and stared at it, my heart hurting a bit

Jonah stood behind me

Tears came back to my eyes as I remembered that day so clearly

"Let's make a promise!" Jonah tells me
"What is it?" I asked smiling

"Let's promise to never let go of each other! Let our friendship last" He said grabbing my hands

"I promise" I smiled gently up at him
"I promise too" He smiled

I bit my lip trying to keep the tears in
The lump in my throat was starting to hurt
