A couple of hours later, Emery was done with surgery, and she just needed to wake up

" I hope this is the last thing that happens to her, she's been in the hospital too many times," anna says

Daniel had fallen asleep so Keri was taking care of Anson now

I stood up and walked into her room, feeling the need to talk to her, even if she was asleep

When I walk in, I see that she had wakened up

"hi," I say as I sat next to her
She waves with a small smile on her face

"Does anything hurt?" I ask her
She points at her chest

I nodded

I found out that she decided to be with Daniel earlier, and honestly, I didn't mind, she was happy, and I love her, so as long as she's happy, I don't mind

"you hungry?" I asked
She shakes her head

The door opened, revealing Daniel with Anson
Well, there goes my chance to talk to her

she smiled slightly, extending her arms to grab Anson

She looks at me and gives me a confused look, I wonder why

"How are you feeling?" Daniel asked her
She gave him a thumbs up, indicating that she was feeling good

"can you not speak?" He asks
She shakes her head

He nods slowly and sat down next to her

I felt a pinch in my heart and decided to leave the room

Anna looks at me and gives me a confused look as well

"What?" I asked
"What's wrong with you?" She asks, standing up

"Nothing... I just don't feel well" I tell her
"Are you sure?" She asks

I nod

"I'm gonna go home, if that's alright with you?" I say
Annabeth walked up to me and I picked her up

"oh sure, go ahead, but text me if you need anything"
I nod and start heading out, but I get a message

I grabbed my phone and saw that Emery had texted me

"mommy texted!" Annabeth said excitedly

Are you okay? You seem sad

I'm fine, I am just heading home

Why?

I feel sick

Um, alright, I guess I'll see you soon?

Yeah, definitely

I sighed and left the hospital

Time skip

I sat on the couch, Annabeth laying on me, slowly dozing off when my phone started ringing

Emery was calling

Em?

Jonah... Can you come? Daniel had to leave and everyone else left... And I don't like hospitals

Oh, yeah, im on my way

Ok, thank you

Time skip

I had made it to the hospital with Anna (his daughter)

We made it to her room and the lights were off, she sat up in her bed and looked toward us

I shut the door and walk up to her, sitting Anna on the bed

"thank you for coming," she tells me
"No problem Em," I tell her, sitting down on a chair

"you can sit here," she says, moving to one said, making space for me

I chuckle, sitting next to her and sitting Anna on my lap

"I tired" she mumbles, laying her head on my chest and closing her eyes

Emery chuckled, grabbing her hand

She shuffled closer to me and laid her head on my shoulder, closing her eyes

"you know... I remember us... Everything..." she says

"that still doesn't change anything though... Does it?"

She didn't answer... But I already knew what she was going to say

"... I don't regret it..." she smiles
"don't do this em..." I sighed

"do what?" she asked confused.

"don't make me feel like there might be a chance for us..."

She opened her eyes, looking up at me
"in another lifetime... Okay?" She mumbles
